By the time I get my new license with my hazmat endorsement which will take 4-6 weeks (what I was told by the DMV), I'll have two years. Technically November 21st marks my Two years, though I will be applying in mid-late October and hope they'll look over that extra month. The position has been advertised for over a year so I'm hoping once I apply they may need someone to fill the position. I'll have my fingers crossed

If not, then I'll apply for the LTL Companies near me also. I never thought I lived in a good part of FLorida for local or line haul but i found out I am lol

Gemini will hire with less than two years experience. It depends on the regional manager. Some will hire with less time and some will require at least two years.
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
I'm hoping I can get on there, as soon as I get my license in the mail I'll apply. I'm really wanting to get into fuel hauling and Gemini is one of the few that will hire under 23 years of ageJynxx Thanks this.

Hauling Hazmat shou;dnt be were u learn to drive. Hauling Hazmat aint no joke. Its a whole different beast. Why do u wna work for gemini? LTL is a better place to gain experience. Hauling tank is for and should be for more experienced drivers son
-
Hauling fuel isn't difficult and it was the first driving job I had. Two years later and I'm still at it with no incident.
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
I never said it was difficult! yes it is some off the easiest s-h-i-t u will ever do! Its soo easy its boring at times. I am talking about the risk and potential hazards involved with hauling a tank for someone that doesn't have much experience. Yes u been lucky and haven't had an accident and maybe u r a good driver and it has something to do with that, but hauling a tank should not be someones starter job. That is why hauling a tank pays a premium because of the risk involved and special training that is needed to haul it. And if I have to tell u that then u probably have no business hauling a tank son!!

For one It's something I want to do, and I've been told Gemini wants you to learn things their way anyhow.
Theres guys with less experience than me hauling hazmat in the oilfields.
Plus schnider and Prime have guys hauling tanks around with less than 6 months experience, so I'm at least ahead of them. I may be young and new to driving but I'm not some billy big rigger out to prove anything. I want to be local and make a good paycheck. I'm using LTL as a backup, I'd rather haul tanks -
This won't be my starter job.....
-
Lol ok thanks pops. I'm so glad I finally have someone who can educate me on the hazards of hauling hazmat. Obviously in my two years of hauling fuel I have no idea what I'm doing and no business doing it. I'll quit right this instant and go work for swift till I'm more competent and qualified to haul fuel. Thanks again for straightening me out.
Your son...Big Duker, DrtyDiesel and Cbake84 Thank this.
