I'm supposed to go to orientation next Tue..
I was reading their website for students and it said something about "A Swift medical release is required for Diabetes 2 (pills), sleep apenea" and hernia repair. Also said that the medical and drug test was to be paid by the student.

Ok, I already have my cdl, and the checklist sent to me said:
Long Form Medical and Medical Card Ok, I have those....but I guess since it's over 80 days, I'll have to get another one...
drug test, no biggie, as long as they don't test for coffee...

The letter I was emailed just says "any medical documentation stating medical conditions may exist"
all I have is the printout of the refill for pills for type 2 diabetes...the VA docs dont' give info out since that would violate the HIPA laws.....

Oh, there is nothing saying whether I would have to pay for the drug test and medical or if Swift does....
Any reasons why I should go to Swift or not would be appreciated...
    Thanks.

physical and drug test will be paid by swift during orientation. just bring all your medical info with you. if you haven't been diagnosed with sleep apnea, don't say anything. they don't check unless you say something. i'm not a student or rookee..been with swift since december. have no complaints beyond the normal crap you'll find with any company. the pay is low for starters but will increase as you get experience.just bring a good attitude, a can-do attitude and alot of patience

Mary, HIPPA laws are about other people asking for you medical info, YOU can request and get ALL your medical information from ANY Dr you have seen, they can't deny you access to your own personal information. Some offices will charge a printing fee esp if it is many pages others may take time a week or more (although if you show up in person for it now it can be faster) You may also when doing your medical inforamtion fill out a form that allows access to certain people you specify access to your records, my mother and husband are on my lists just in case I am incapacitated and unable to do it. I say call your office ask for it to be faxed or sent to you.

Mary you need to know what your A1C is for the last 6 months. The doc wants to know in percentages...it has to be under 8. When they do your urine sample they will test for sugar and protein and may decide to do an A1C there, Swift will not pay for the A1C, that is why you need to know it so you can tell them that the last time it was taken you can say it was at 7.5% or some thing like that.

Thanks, I'll check that out. The recruiter just said to bring the prescription bottle.
Guess that's not going to work.
    Thanks
