im reading the 5th edition of bumper to bumper and im run into a few chapters discussing basics on engine, electrical, and so on. i know brakes are extremely important but how much attention do i needa give these chapters ?

im looking from a standpoint of acquiring my CDL. i do know how nice it is to be able to fix your wheels on the side of the road when your broke down, but are there any questions on these topic for cdl testing ?

Not that I believe of, Just be sure to look for the signs of proper maintenance! You will be tested about the things that show signs of wear and that sort of things.

I'm not too sure but I think that any brake repair other than a simple adjustment must be done by a certified technician/mechanic and then a VCR must be signed....

What's wrong with a pic of one's self as their avatar????? I have my own pic as my avatar (helps keep people from thinking I'm a guy!). There are electrical aspects of trucks (lights, and various controls are electrical), so it still relates to trucking.

Geez where the #### did that come from ? Lotta help you were to the guy. Some of us don't hide behind pics of inanimate objects or avatars. We'e straight up enough to let people see who we are. I actually have been recognized by my pic by another driver out here and it led to a good conversation.

We're all here to learn from each other. And electrical stuff is indeed part of a truck which makes it part of a trucking site.

Lighten up. None of us know it all and can learn from just about anyone on here. You just never know who might know what.

    Lilbit Thanks this.

i know the importance of knowing your truck and its always a plus to get your wheels rolling again when ur stuck, but i was concerned if any of my cdl questions would ask me about engine parts or electrical or something of that nature, i know im not even allowed to modify or adjust my breaks excluding slack adjusters...

well where are you from? we need to know what state you are in to know what is on your test. ]In IL the test has nothing to do with engine or electrical. The pretrip inspection portion covers the safety inspection, mostly steering, breaks, and suspension parts. So anyway let us know where you are testing so someone who has tested in your area can give better information.
