Seriously. If you're going to/want to work in the patch, up north on the ice (real ice-not TV ice), or in the woods then you HAVE to thicken up yer skin. Period. Or there's no point in asking for advice because you won't last .... you actually GOT advice already ........... catch my drift ?

Yeah, there's a guy with ZERO integrity. Just "Google" Perry Shrigley Trucking and read the horror stories.

Perry's Dad used to have a log trucking business. I wonder if it's still going.

Hello to all forum members, this is my first post in regards to this thread. Im from Kamloops and currently looking for work in the oil/gas industry. I just spent 2 days in GP, I attended the Calfrac job fair with an interview and they were looking for 10 years of off road experience, I was a little shocked, I've got a good 6 years of trucking in Kamloops mostly gravel, end dump etc, and also a fair bit of lowbed experience.
While in Gp i also dropped off resumes to Canyon and Trican. I'm looking for the rotational shifts.
Im 45 and eager as hell to get something going, is it better to drop resumes in person or email.

Jamesg how long have you been in Vernon, I know a few people there!!

    Thanks
    Darin

I would have to say calfrac is fffffing with you. They hire warm bodies with a class 5. Don't waste your time on a holes like that. Go into the industrial area in Gp, red deer, nisku/leduc and just knock on doors. If you aren't hired by 5 pm there's something wrong with you. I mean really 10 years that would mean they have a minimum hiring age of 30. Most fraccers are considerably less than 30. 20 is more like it.

    nitrogen, thanks for the response.

I thought it a little off when she said that to me, it was like that was there qualification requirements. The HR girls were all of 30 and ill I was thinking is where they have 10 years of experience! I wasn't familiar with the GP area just went traveled to go the the Calfrac Job Fair, I did drop resumes of to Canyon and Trican. This is very new to me and nor sure who the real players are. Im going to look into a road trip up to Red Deer,Im going to do my homework on who to visit.

The one thing that I liked about Calfrac is the have the rotational work schedule, 22/13 and they fly you in and the flight is covered, was there any other company that does that? I was told by Trican that they offer this program also.
