When I search for freight in a city do you know what I look for? Price, if the price is posted then I don't have to do any cold calling. It also tells me the broker is proud to tell you about the rate, I don't call the postings that don't have prices because I can believe that price is not as good. I really like how landstar will send you prices of the freight that your looking for.

i won't call on loads with no rates. cuz every call has been below my rate.

there's also the matter of loads not being completely posted. how can you expect a driver to have a rate in mind. when all you post is start to finish. but when they call. there's now 5 stops which obviously bumps the miles up. OR. it's an oversized.

some of you may have had good luck on no rate posted loads. but i don't have that many minutes to waste my time on a 2 dollar load that ends up being 1.50 by the time all the stops are done. or even 1 dollar after all permits are purchased.

there's also the loads that have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING posted about em.

kind of hard to expect an honest phone call for a load when the load is absent of all pertinent details.

i pull open deck. so put all the details out there. all the stops. and the length of the load. and weight. GIVE us what we need, and we'll tell U what we need. before agreeing to a rate.

Right on. We arent given free range for what is displayed on a load, that is left up to the sourcing department. Our loads are posted with all additional stops and miles, weight, so that excuse is invalid. I do think posting a rate would help. I can see asking if there was a TWIC card needed or if there are going to be tolls. But not having any idea of what a driver would want when calling in on a rate is just frusterating, especially on very busy days/seasons or when you are working on a separate project to take a call that is just going to hang up.

    I appreciate the feedback.

You have to understand the way the new generation thinks. They don't want to go do their job and get on to something else. They want to have a dialogue on why things are like they are and waste more time doing that than it would have taken to just do it and move on. When I started if the boss told you to do it you did it and got on to the next thing. Never mind what you thought about it. Now employees want to have a debate instead about why we do things the way we do, etc, etc. Kids nowadays are taught that "their opinion counts" and when they get out in the workforce I think it shocks them a little bit that the boss does it his way, and if you don't want to do it his way, then you can hit the door. This may be the first time they experience that in their lives. The job is what it is. Brokers are in the sales business. Time gets used up on dead ends. I wonder what the boss would think if he knew his people were on here lamenting potential business to be "wasting my time" as they classified it. People don't want to hear the truth just like it is buddy they want to hear an affirmation of their opinion of the way things should be.

Didnt your generation raise our generation? Careful who gets the blame. I always love the token, "generation" garb. If my boss tells me to do something, I do it. But if i bring something up that can make our program more efficient he is all ears! By the way, my boss read this thread to see what feedback we have received on how to make it easier for carriers to make decisions. To make our lives easier. Take a lap. Any boss who isnt willing to listen ro feedback form the people who are puting their business inorder is an idiot.

If Henry Ford would have asked his boss what he wanted they would have told him "Faster Horses". Then where would be?
It is this generation, who questions how things are done, in hopes to find a better option, who make us better. Not the follower drones you seem to wants us to be.

Alright people, this thread has some potential for both sides, but the childish antics will not be tolerated. If you do not have anything to contribute then move on.
