Local pd has a CMV patrol now or I have just started seeing them.

They are actively pulling you guys over , oversize particularly overwide.
Doesnt seem to matter to them where on the road they pull you over either.

first one I saw about a month ago was extreme width oversize WITH OHP escort(4 PATROL CARS) pulled over by Columbus PD. Had the portable scales out while blocking a lane of traffic AND a state route exit/entrance ramp. Seems to happen on the eastside of town and southeast side of the outerbelt.

Keep that in mind if you travel through here.

Yes, Ohio and most states do give you specific routes.

had them for years. just started hitting everyone hard in the last few months. they need $$$. if you notice on the permits now it says stay in right lane unless passing, or something worded like that. got pulled over 2 months ago. got a ticket for not being in right lane. went to court with my dash cam and played the video of the cars I was passing to the judge. case dismissed!!

I'm just a company van driver. Looking to pass along the info.

what struck me as odd was getting pulled over WITH the state escort? Aren't permits and such checked by state escort before heading out??

Patty? these guys would have been on the approved interstate routes. Just local wanting to grab cash. choosing soem wrong places to actually stop them too. Unsafe for them the driver and passing cars. Think I'll give a little complaint call to HQ. Do your jobs, ok. but unsafe? I think not.

that escorted truck was stopped right south of the 33 interchange. 4 HP lights going, driver and his company escorts sitting in the shade watching while his cargo gets weighed by CPD whilst sticking way out in traffic. Backed up to 71 when all was said and done. Just insane.

Will be glad when or if they put those info boards up around that side of 270.
