Are there any good cdl training schools near Charleston, SC or any local companies that will help me get my cdl?
I've already been turned down by Prime and I am very low on funds. I've been unemployed since July of this year so I need a school that will pay for everything.
BTW I already have my cdl permit.

Check with Willis Shaw Express about their tuition free CDL program. It's advertised on their website.

If you can complete getting your CDL , Paschall Truck Lines will train you.

    Try these also:

    CRST
    Central Refrigerated
    JBS Carriers

Will your state not pay for it for you? I know there are some SAGE schools there. Seems like with you being unemployed you could get the state to pay for your tuition. If they wont, go get food stamps, then I am positive they will!

If all else fails, just go to Swift until you get your CDL. The cost will be 3900, but you can pay that back when you get a job elsewhere and have extra money to pay them. Else, they can write it off ;)

Your local unemployment office may have grant money available for you to go to school. It is part of the Workforce Investment Act, or WIA for short. Go down and ask them is they have any WIA funds available. If they have some left, then you can start the process. First, you will have to take an aptitude test. If you pass, then you will have to go through some counseling and take some online couses. When you finish that, they will have you apply for a bunch of different grants and loans that don't fund for truck driving schools, but you have to be turned down to be eligible. Once you get through all of that, then they will submit you for the WIA Grant.

Depending on how your local county works, they may require you to be accepted to a truck driving school first. It has to be in the state where you live. They may also require you to have a prehire. If so, the truck driving school you will be attending may be able help you with that.

The whole process may take 3-6 weeks, but in the end (if you qualify) they will pay for your training.

Not sure where Willis shaw is based out of. CRST will bring you to Iowa for training. They are team driving only. Central Refregerated will bring you to Utah for training. JBS is not hiring in the Southeast right now.

You may also want to try Stevens transport. They are based out of Dallas. You'll probably have to go to thier school in Colorado due to Texas being a closed state.
