    Hey All,
I am a company driver, so I am not allowed to drill, disfigure, alter. etc my truck. I want to put in a nice multi-band ham radio like the Yeasu FT-897D (Link below if you don't already know what it is)
My biggest question is what radios do some of you ham truckers have? Are you a company driver? how do you have them mounted? What do you use for your antenna, particularly in HF operation? I REALLY don't have the time or skill to homebrew anything, so something commercially available that's plug-and-play would be preferable.
    Thanks in advance!

FT-100 with an ATAS-100 "screwdriver" mounted on the passenger mirror. Company truck (Volvo 670); mirror mounts are common on company trucks.

I was thinking a screwdriver of some type, but I am not very familiar with them. How do you tune them going doing the road?

I enjoy very much, HF in the truck. I run 20 meters during the day and talk to my regulars every day. I also work 40 meters in the middle of the night a lot where japan comes in crystal clear, and the aussie group early in the morning, just before sun-up. If your fortunate enough to be able to get a 160 antennea going, its easy to talk 200-300 miles truck to truck line of sight on 1900 KHz. I used to do this, but my 160 needs repair at the moment.
