Yours is correct only if it is used intrastate in Georgia.

 

Not so,

1. GVWR includes the truck trailer and cargo, IE the total package rolling down the road.

2. 10000 lbs up to 26001 lbs you need a log book and DOT physical,

3. If you are over 10001 lbs running Interstate you need to comply fully with CDL regulations, which means hour and scale plus the blue lights you think is a Disco behind you... (Showing my age lol)

4. Any HazMat requires DOT authority.

5. GVWR over 26001 lbs is a definite CDL

Go for you CDL across the board and you'll have nothing to worry about.

 

What killed the Navistar purchase wasn't the plant moving, they could not reach a deal. The same with Penske and Saturn.

 

What do you see for mileage with the FL70 or FL80?

 

Depends on how it is geared and what engine in it. With the original set I had I would get 12 empty if I took it easy and 9.5 if I was under load close to maxing it out. My box and reefer unit weigh in at 9600 pounds so that made a big difference to the mileage just empty. When the box was removed and the truck was used with a flat bed on it for a month, I saw 14 a few times but more often than not I would see 12 consistently.

 

I am looking at a 53' step deck being pulled by a Kenworth T660 with a studio sleeper. I would be very happy with 12, but I would complain with 10.

 

You better buy a Volvo if your looking for that kind of mpg from a big rig!

 

Exactly and correct me if I'm wrong but if your trailer has duels or more than 2 axles again you are required to have a CDL....not 100% sure on that. I pull with a Ford F350, 7.3 and it's my work horse. I burn between 11-15mpg pending weight and more importantly how high profile the load is. Wind kills fuel mileage faster than weight... My F350 idoes not have duels so I'm under the CDL weight...total I'm just under 14,000 lbs. I recently purchased another truck, Dodge 4500 with a sleeper and because of the weight I will need to jump up to a CDL...

 

How does the weight of those compare to the duallys ? I ask because I am looking at getting a setup however don't want to get a CDL at this time so I have to keep the weight down.
