Mark31580 I was a Truck broker for 30 years and alot of my Cal customers moved there operations out of Cal for Tax purposes some went to Nevada others went to Texas. Cal is just getting to be to much to deal with. Florida on the other hand is were I live but picking the Miami area I believe will be costly just because of the area look at the country areas were it's cheaper to live like towns on US 301 or States like La, Ms.

Personally, I think you need a third choice. : )

I have a friend who lived in Reno. It was a good freight location for him, but he hauled cars. Donner will be a problem in the winter months and if you base in Reno, it will be difficult to not do business in California. If you want to travel north and south on the left coast, it could be a good location. Weather will be more temperate in Miami, but you can expect to do a lot of deadheading to get out. Moving a couple of hundred miles north in Florida would be a better location and you would still have the nice weather. Getting out of Florida is always a challenge unless you pull a reefer and it is produce season.

New York metro area?

It appears there is no "Golden Area" with trucking. Perhaps your success in the industry comes down to how hard and smart you work, your connections, and less on where you are actually located. If your operation is ORT, and your trucks are always moving, I guess location is irrelevant?

thank you landstar8891, I was born in Staten Island, unfortunately lol. I try to get out of NY, but it always comes full circle somehow. Its hard to leave when their is so much oppurtunity. You dont know what you hve until you leave. I just wish we had Miami's or Californias weather.

If you are incorperating check this out. WY, DE, and NV offer many advantages.

yes i was planning on incorporating in NV or FL, thank you. But it sounds like these areas are not good for truckers, judging by the posts on this thread. Is the northeast the best region for truckers?
