I'm sorry to hear that it didn't work for you all, New OTR Wife. I have heard several horror stories about that particular DM. I am glad that your husband didn't give up on his layover pay, etc. and that he did get what was owed to him. I wish you both the very best.

Also, thank you for bringing up two very good points that can not be repeated enough. Always send a message clarifying what you were told over the phone! And always ask for your detention/layover pay .....you do not get it automatically.....so ask, ask, ask!

I have tried to think of some good advice as far as a bad dispatcher is concerned .....the simple truth is I don't know of any. If you stay in this business long enough eventually you will have a bad dispatcher ....or in TransAm's case, maybe no DM for awhile. The only thing that you can do is document everything.

Every day we get messages to wash trailers before going to shippers
Today loading in Baltimore with 2 other transam trucks
neither had washed out their trailer
both were late to the pick up
    IT ISN"T ALL TRANSAM
when drivers can't take personal responsibility to do their job correctly

kirk, did they send that to you in writing or over the phone? Just curious .....what would have happened if you had told them that you would sit there and wait until they sent you orders to return to the shipper for the rework? If they sent you the orders to do that, wouldn't they be obligated to pay? It would be a dispatch wouldn't it? Does it specifically state in your lease agreement that they do not pay for return trips for reworking loads?

Are you still getting a new truck in a couple of weeks? Or are you changing your mind? I know ....I am being nosy ....and you can tell me ......
HTQ that's just none of your business ....I won't take offense ....honest ...:biggrin_2557::biggrin_2559:

You are absolutely right, Pete. I don't care how fed up you are, you owe it to yourself and the other drivers that are out there with you to act with integrity and conduct yourself in a professional manner. .... and the same thing goes for trailer lights, tires, etc.. Don't take money out of the pockets of other drivers by not living up to your responsibilities and costing them their time. Dealing with the corporate and regulatory aspects of the trucking industry is hard enough .....no one needs to deal with the laziness of someone else costing them time and money. We are all in this together and I know that most of you are willing to go out of your way to help a fellow driver ....but not a steering wheel holder. You have to earn the title of "driver".

Thanks to all who responded to my question and thanks to hometimequeen for the paycheck. To Ibutler the only surprise is to the trainees they were told they would go out 8-11 days with a trainer but what they weren't told was that they would be here for a week before they went out to work on their backing. I don't have the problem as I have experience but they all said that was a surprise. On to day2

I saw on the Prime website that all newbies would be on the pad doing backing before heading out, so I knew that, but thats good so far!
