You NEVER EVER get upclose and personal with a fire in which tires are involved.
I understand you wanting to get the fire out but the smartest thing you could have done was to unhook your tractor while you waited for the firetruck.
Tirefires are the worst kind as they can easely restart.(all the metal around stores the heat and the rubber uses it to restart the fire)
Let your experience be a warning for any driver that a trailer isn't worth his life.
Glad you are ok but next time..............don't get under a burning trailer. -
claw444 what if the ABS control module on the truck for the trailer is gone?

I don't know

I did appreciate that you realized the mistakes you made and I am glad you got out of this safe.. hopefully this was a big enough scare or close enough call to make you be more cautious from now on...
I also appreciate you sharing this as it may help wake up others to be more careful and do the proper checks and all.. -
Thanks for the insight and knowledge offered here. I just purchased a non-contact infrared thermometer. After some research and reading many reviews, I selected the ThermoTechTT1022 for $35.32 free shipping.
