I don't trust any shop that uses a DOSY meter. Only a spectrum analyzer will show how much power is on frequency, and how much is off frequency (bleedover).
For accurate power measurement, the minimum should be accepted from a CB shop is a Bird meter that is calibrated yearly. That's beyond my budget as a hobbyist, so I use a trick I learned from a ham: I use a DVOM to measure voltage going into a dummy load, and then I calculate the wattage using Ohm's law. -
Radar's CB Shop is in the motel across the street from the Petro. I've never had him work on a radio, but he has always been good to me with things like replacing a mic cartridge or a mic plug. (210) 662-0646
There's also a guy named Israel Gonzales. I have never called him (yet), so I can't say anything about him. His business card is on the bulletin board at our yard. His shop is on the southwest side, off of Loop 410 and Hwy 16, near Palo Alto College. (210) 922-4012 -

I picked up a new toy today from GI joes radio just south of Lexington today. The brothers that run the shop are some good ol country boys and he did a great job aligning the Ranger. It's throwing rocks at my old Connex lol. I ended up getting the RCI-63FFC4 and I don't think I'm going to look back lol.http://s1131.photobucket.com/user/t...0-3429-0000037E7E01DC88_zps13dcb085.jpg.html]

BUZZSAW Thanks this. -
That will be a "loud" radio. But why is it not on freq?
-
Its on, ch 19 is technically 27.185, I've been watching it and it stays on 27.1849 most the time and when people are talking it may bounce down to 27.18498 to 27.185. But I receive excellent and from the feedback I have got I sound very good.

Not knocking the radio at all !! The guts of it are
very similar to my 4300-300. Just wondering. -
How do you hook your multimeter to the dummy load? Red to center lead and black to ground? I may have to try this.
