1997 cummins m11 + where to buy

    thinking of having my cummins m11 inframed where should I get the parts?????are there any after matkets kits that's good.. or should I just stick with the cummins brand...I was told that the labor is $2300.00 does this sound about right???I have 610xxx miles on it and have a oil leak between the rocker box and the head that is driven me crazy..if I work the truck hard (dump truck) when I park I will have a spot about the size of bottom of a cup..its running down the head and to the back of the motor down the trans bell housing..how much should it cost to fix this issue..i cant seem to get anybody to give me a price on that they all want to do a inframe...was told your that deep may as well do the inframe...but looks like just the roicker box and gear has to come off to fix it..any help would be great thanks guys

    M11 share some parts with ISM. many aftermarket parts from China is available too, they are twice cheaper

    No gears have to come off of a M11 to replace a rocker housing gasket. I worked at a Cummins distributor as a mechanic for 5.5 years so I know. It's a time consuming job yes, probably 3-4 hours depending on the access. It's not that difficult and for sure isn't anywhere close to being an inframe job. Somebody is fooling you if you believe that.

    M11 and ism same engine except electronics injector harness rocker arms and front drive system use cummins oem only we have a fleet of these engines just bought an over haul kit from kenworth 3700 plus 1450 for a reman head make sure you replace the oil pump piston nozzles and oil cooler also add a block stiffener plate there roughly 100 bucks and it will help with block fretting FYI if you are running a rear sump pan you will have to replace the pick up type elbow any questions let me know

    ISM is popular in China, they make Euro-2 engine for internal market and engines with DEF, EGR and other emission stuff for export. so parts are available in Europe now.

    really ISM is the only engine with classical pump injectors. All other engines are CRD and XPI.

    Earthmover the gasket you are talking about you will have to pull all the overhead stuff off (no gears) pull the injectors out to access some of the bolts (probably all day project). I've done it at least once and got another one to do this winter on a another one. Haven't had to do it twice on an engine yet. It seems to be a real problem in the M11's & ISM's. I sure wouldn't rebuild it yet tho.

    BTW, M11 is still made and used. For example KRAZ installs M11 and L9 engines in their trucks for military application. They use engines with mechanically controlled injection pump. It is used by Chenese truck makers too, becouse there are no new emission laws there. There are KAMAZ Cummins plant and Dong Feng Cummins plant. They make "no emission stuff" engines.

    For internal Ukrainian market cummins supply ISMe3 engine with CM2250 ECM. This ECM looks like CM570. This ISMe3 got no EGR, DPF and DEF(SCR). In Ukraine truck makers can sell Euro-3 certified trucks. But for international operations we have to purchase engines with DEF...
