Hi flow mufflers and air filters help too.
Keep your truck clean and waxed, it's not much, but every little thing helps.
Watch your rpm, too low and the motor lugs itself and uses more fuel.
what have you guys done to become more fuel efficient

And don't listen to what he said about constantly turning your truck off, unless you don't pay for repairs. And money you save on fuel doing that you will be spending on a new starter when you burn up the finite amount of starts you have on your starter.DoneYourWay Thanks this. -
I have heard of drivers running Scanguage they run cruise till they come to a rise in the road and then they feather the peddle to keep the Turbo boost under I think 15? But they are saving large amounts of fuel=$$$, It will slow you down, but you can edge yourself back up to the speed you were running, They swear by the Turbo boost that this Scanguage reads for them. I hope this helps.

Does you have a tire inflation system installed?

Don't use the cruise unless you are on totally flat ground. You can always get better mpgs with the foot if you have a light touch. Cruise control will floor the throttle to maintain speed, causing the engine to dump fuel. With the throttle on the floor, the injectors will actually put more fuel into the cylinder than can be burned and that unburned fuel goes right out the stacks with the exhaust. Which brings me to my second point. Never floor the throttle. You should never have a need to put the throttle more than 3/4 down. When climbing a hill, get in a gear that will pull at about 1400 rpm and 3/4 throttle and take your time going up. When you crest the hill, let it coast down (in gear, never in neutral. That's just dangerous). Don't apply any throttle when going down hill, it will get back up to speed on its own quick enough. It takes a very light touch with the right foot and paying attention to how hard you're pressing that peddle. With a little practice, you will get very good at giving it just enough throttle to do what you need without dumping fuel.
DoneYourWay, Lady K, speeedy and 1 other person Thank this. -
tire inflation system nope haven't got one of those yet I just go and put air in my tire myself lmao
-
well I've seen a lot about driving procedure but have any of you owner operators out there installed any parts that have helped you save fuel apart from a filter do appreciate the advice from everybody anyhow
-
And as far as parts go, ive heard of things you can install under the hood but immediately disregarded as crap. I remember going on YouTube and looking up this kind of thing and there was a guy who's video claimed he got 10 mpg with parts or something like that. I'll see if I can find the linkspeeedy and DoneYourWay Thank this.
