How much money do you want to spend? I'll tell you what we have done if you want. It is a lot of little things that add up to maybe 1 mpg.
1. Get as aerodynamic as possible.
2. Don't run over 62 mph.
3. Low roll resistance tires. LP 22.5
4. APU units (i.e. no idling)
5. Pursue as much light freight as possible.
6. Stay off the edges of the country.
7. Evaluate your trailer. There is a lot of savings to be had with fairings, low roll tires, smooth sides instead of
plate trailers if possible, etc.
That should be enough to get you going.
what have you guys done to become more fuel efficient

like sho tyme said.
running around in lower rpms. makes the engine lug and use more fuel. hiogher rpms produce more power and make the engine work less. which means less fuel being used.
the top of my power band starts at `1450 on an isx. i cruise around at 1550. it also helps when the hills hit. my powerband is already rolling. i'm climbing faster.
i picked up .5 mpg by dropping a gear and raising the R'S.
and by all means. USE THE CRUISE. some of us get tired because you can't decide if you want to do 55 or 65. you'll save yourself from blood clots too. holding your foot on the gas pedal 10 hours a day. NOT GOOD.
use the cruise, and make the truck drive at a consistant speed. with the rest of the trucks.DoneYourWay Thanks this. -
alright well I'll experiment this upcoming week let's say 1400 rpm at 65 miles per hour just about sound about right to you guys?
