Yeah, I've heard lots, some of it rather entertaining...it will be a loooooong time before that is ever final, NTSB report is probably still ~ year away.
I like Mullen pretty good, been here for over 13yrs...with a 6 month hiatus this summer. When I decided at outfit wasn't working for me, there wasn't much thought where I was gonna go to. Good outfit to work for, they are huge on safety, they expect us to have our i's dotted & t's crossed...but the flip side is if something bad happens, we're pretty much bulletproof! When all you do is basically Superload Status freight, it's really the only way to operate.
Case in point, the entertaining part...the NTSB, US DOT, & Alberta DOT all came into the office for an audit a couple of days after the bridge incident...after the most extensive audit they've ever had, they had to RAISE Mullen's Saftey Rating...not joking!

How many hp are you pulling that load with? Do you use an 18 speed transmission? That would have been interesting seeing them load that rear axle.

How do you load the combine over the tandems? Do you place ramps on the trailer to get over the hump?

I've never heard anything bad about them. Everybody that I've talked to has positive things to say about Mullens. Big difference between a neighbor and American company.. Let's screw everybody who we can.. but..but you'll get 90 cents a mile plus fuel surcharge. Your lucky.. I wish that they would hire from the United States . I'd try to come there in a second.

It isn't about HP, it's gearing! When this is all you do, speed isn't a big concern so you gear it to pull. Got a 550 Cummins, 18 speed, 4.30 gears...she don't go fast, but it'll pull all day! Hence the wide hood, much bigger rad.

I think they have hired Americans in the past...if you did work for them, I'm almost positive that you could only do cross border freight. Being Canadian, they can not interstate, and you being American can not haul interprovincial. It limits your "availability"

I did once go inter provincial. I hauled a tube trailer for JB Kelly up to inuvik and we were supposed to bobtail home. But one of the other guys latched on to a couple of vans going back to Edmonton . All I can say is thank God I had that van.. Bob tailing out of there would have been fun.
