I won't get into what I really think about this truck, but it's mine for the next month...so I need some help trying figure it out. When I got into the truck early last week, everything was working fine. I tried hooking my cb up, but couldn't get any power from it. I checked the fuse, but it was fine. Ever since then, however, A few things seem wacky. The radio shuts itself off after about an hour, and the steering wheel mounted radio controls don't work. I don't have the radio remote in the sleeper, so I don't know why the radio is all of the sudden doing this. Is there some type of hidden switch I might have pressed?

not that I know of

Check the breakers. Passenger side behind dash cover. Mine was doing the same thing
-
does it have a MAXXFORT engine? That may be the Issue!
-
Aren't they really MAXXFIX?
But it does sound like a breaker is tripping for this to happen. -
Is the radio shutting off while you are driving? The premium radio does have a time-out feature where it will shut off after 1 hour after the ignition power has been turned off.
-
Yes I am driving. That's why I thought I might have inadvertently entered some super secret prostar code. I checked the breakers, and they're fine.

If you turn the key on and the radio turns on, it is getting ignition power. If it is turning off later while driving the radio is loosing either ignition or battery power somewhere. The CB wiring runs up the pillar, no where near the AM/FM radio. BUT, they do share the same breaker/fuse. My diagram shows there should be a 10 amp breaker or fuse in spot F4-F. Make sure your CB radio isn't drawing too much power or that the terminals aren't bent or spread where the breaker plugs in. Wiggle the wiring directly under the fuse block and around the area and see if any of the radios cut out. The wiring directly in behind the AM/FM radio tends to get pinched or crushed between the back of the radio and the rear support for the radio.

I had a 2012 prostar star and amung the many issues I had 1 was that the radio shut off every 30 minutes. It took international 3 frickin days to figure it out. Its something to do with the timer and/or wiring.

It was proli the load shed unit that was replaced. Its located under the dash on the engine cover. I have ran into the same issue at the dealer I work at.
baha Thanks this.
