If wet weather was to blame, "Why are charges pending?" Too fast for conditions?

Never having been a trucker (so far) I have had many issues with truckers in the past. My own defensive driving has saved my life several times.........

Hard to say. Too fast for conditions, or a whole slew of other stuff. Maybe found some drugs/alcohol in the truck or in the driver's system, problems with logbooks/paperwork.....who knows? Considering there was a fatality involved, the powers that be are probably climbing up the driver's butt with a microscope.:biggrin_2551:

Weather DOES NOT cause accidents. If weather caused accidents every vehicle on that section of highway would have been in an accident. Drivers not driving for conditions cause accidents.

I couldn't agree with you more. If people (drivers and 4 wheelers included) would slow down we would all be better off.:yes2557:

Too fast for conditions or failure to maintain control. Anytime there is a fatality, if there is a violation, you can be sure that (in most cases) charges will be filed.

    I beg to differ...

My husband had an accident in 2002 that should have killed him.. The wind literally picked up the truck OFF the roadway, and then slung it across 2 lanes of traffic.. Other cars in the area were also slung around... but since his driveline and transmission were broken when he was dropped... and the latchpins broke when he was blown into the median...

If the truck had not been literally dropped back onto the road and he had NOT been slung into the median, the accident would not have happened.

And yes, there were several witnesses who told the cops the EXACT same thing my husband did.

I would have to think there is not a whole lot you can do when your truck is thrown that far, except maybe not drive in it. I have had weird, rouge gusts come out of open fields that made me think I was going for a ride before.
