I got into Primes Training program about 7 years ago... While I only lasted about 4 weeks after I got my CDL Its not horrible but it is a stepping stone... I rented a car to Springfield Airport and primes shuttle picked me up ( just the opposite when I quit the shuttle dropped me off at airport where I rented a car back home ) Primes shuttle is free... The orientation is a new experience for most it sometimes is very long and boring especially if you have blondes or just idiots in your "class" that cant listen and then at the end of the day ask questions that were already answered earlier in the day... While in your days of orientation which is like a week if I remember your not hand cupped to their hotel you can go out and do things ( if you bring extra money with ) If you pass all your tests right away theres always potential drivers that will take long leaving you much "down time" Prime will pay for your meals in the millennium building which are good but there are also a lot of food options within walking from the hotel ofcouse at your own cost... For the guys theres a strip club which is alcohol free ( If I remember ) less then a half mile through the field walk which was a popular spot for a few of the guys ( of course I had nothing to do with something of this nature I'm from Chicago ) One reason I didn't last long is that the recruiter lied to me being from Illinois she told me I could transfer the License I received at prime which is a Missouri license ( with primes address ) to my home state ( Illinois ) and that's not the case... In Illinois you have to do all the tests from A-Z in Illinois no transfers allowed... The main problem was my first "finisher" or what ever they him was an idiot for lack of better words and come to find out he had just finished his training ( blind leading blind ) "not good" after two weeks with him I called dispatch and was put with another trainer who was a country guy... ( I'm a city boy ) He was a nice guy but didn't shower but like 2-3 times a week at most and for me that just don't work... Two smelly men in a tight jail cell on wheels don't work...Not to mention he never let me back the truck up... He was more in a hurry to go get the next load which =more money for him... They do have good trainers but its like winning the lottery...

Prime has plenty of long-term drivers. Only about half of Prime's drivers at any given time have a year or less of experience.
It's about fuel economy, and the bottom line. Prime was one of the few carriers that actually expanded during the economic downturn... because they were in the financial position that they could. Part of that is limiting the cost of fuel. You can run fast at 65? So can I, but it pays me directly to run slow because I keep more of my dead presidents that way. It pays our company drivers to run slow and maximize their fuel bonus. -
The more dead presidents in my pocket, the better.
