No static No nothing

I ended up buying a special antenna mount and using an aftermarket antenna (Wilson). The mount replaces one of the mirror mounting holes and gives you a good perch to mount a better antenna (and better Coax). Do that and your problems should go away.
Incidentally, I was told this is a very common problem on Volvo's; it has something to do with a 'splitter' box that allows the AM/FM radio to share the antenna with the CB.

 

If I understand what you are describing correctly, it sounds like a grounding issue. Maybe bad or corroded out coax. I would just grab diff mounts and feedline and run your own seperate system anyways.

 

1 good antenna should be plenty, and definitely use some blue locktite, cause it will shake its way loose otherwise (trust me). I ran it on the driver's side and it worked well; the only side effect is that the coax will keep you from using your window curtains (if you have them). You can snake the coax through the door opening and then zip tie it to the mirror bracket, making it look clean.

 

I am running a wilson fiberglass whip (5', I think).
My radio has had some work done to it but it's by no means a 'smoke-blower'.
I imagine you could put two perches in and run a dual antenna setup, I never tried it because the single setup worked just fine. You may want to see if someone with more CB experience can comment about a dual setup.

 

That could spark some can of worms! LOL Personally, I am of the school of thought that a single not only works well, but better then a dual in-phase. Its kinda like a Chevy's and Ford's debate really. There are plus and negitives to both setups.
