Ok you've read the propaganda from the trucking company, painting a recruiters portrait of a picture perfect trucking world at their company and swoosh they just hooked you, a real live recruit/trainee.

You go home and tell momma, our financial troubles are over, I'm going to drive a big rig!!! Good on you, well not really.

Did you do your research??? Did you come here and listen to the stories? Did you really think about what this life entails?

This is not a 9 to 5 gig, it's a drive when you need to, it's a sleep when you can existence, it's a stop for fuel and grab fast food on the go until your shut down and can grab a good meal lifestyle.

It's a call your kids on their birthday from some rest stop on the PA pike or from a loading dock somewhere. It's a work at the bottom of a pay scale for what seems like forever.

Its being sold a half real more untrue picture of driving a truck from some recruiter who has never driven a truck, trying to tell you how it's all going to go down, until your driver manager tells you the way it is.

think real hard about this because you may step into a hell that will twist your panties like never before

Not trying to be rude, but if your job is that bad that u need to post this....QUIT!!!!! If you have as much experience as your profile states, landing a good job should be easy. Not everyone works like a slave for slave wages you know

Yeah..this is sort of getting old....with 44 years and only 2 jobs..you would think a man would have found something good. Trucking is a hard life for those that choose to make it that way. But he's entitled to his view , I guess and I'll support his right to voice it , while I feel sorry for his bad experience. But let's hear why after 4 decades plus he's so disgusted by his choice or 2 choices.....I think they were the big pumpkin and CRST...IIRC.

What are you two talking about? I'm employed at the same carrier 29 years now, does that sound to you like I haven't found something good?

i tell it like it is, the good the bad and the indifferent, read my posts more thoroughly

I left the pumpkin because I had a new driver manager that thought more about being your best friend and expecting something in return.

CRST has been good to me, don't knock my choices because your not me!!! If you don't like my honesty than don't read and reply to what I write. Very simple!!!

Sometimes you don't get choices, your under someone's thumb that makes life hard. You make life better in this industry when you gain experience and you stand up and take control.

Hold it ! Slow down a little there pal....no one said anything about your choices of jobs. Just wonder after such a long period of time in an industry you seem to have a chip on your shoulder about it. Maybe you need to thicken up the skin somewhat before you start throwing stones.

Maybe I'm reading you wrong...My apologies If I did...but you seem to see nothing good in opinion of trucking. Both of the threads you began have some pretty bad overtones about trucking , if that's your view on the industry fine. But when you get called on it defend your opinion , don't change it...you can't have it both ways.

You know OP.. you are only the other side of the same coin.. on one side you, on the other the deceptive recruiters ...
To paint a beau tiful all is perfect picture of trucking or to paint a dark all is horrible picture of trucking requires the same amount of skill and integrity..

From your post I dont glean how miserable trucking is.. but how miserable you are at your chosen career and your life right now..

We all go through ups and downs.. but, a person is only as happy as they allow themselves to be.. and the same is true with ones career... Besides shifting gears, backing, logs and all we do in trucking.. we also have to steer and maintain our mental and emotional health.. just like we all have our routine for doing our pre trip.. we also have to
ave a routine or strategy for pre tripping our mental and emotional health...

You have been doing this for many years... There has to be reasons you stayed... Things you would miss if you left..
