Types of local jobs?

You should find a local job up in Buffalo as the winter approaches with ease... and it looks like it's gonna be a cold one! Even if it's something seasonal... it could open up more possibilities! Be safe out here driver!

 

I wouldn't mind some info myself, as I'm in the same situation as the OP. Put in 1.5yrs OTR with a perfect record and ready to have my life back.
I was considering Old Dominion, R&L, Dayton Freight, etc...

 

Have hazmat? Go fuel... It's a great job

 

If you want drop and hook you need to do linehaul in LTL. Need Hazmat and doubles endorsement. A lot of LTL's will take 1 yr of experience. YRC, Holland New penn Reddaway, R&L, OD, Saia, Estes, UPSF, ABF. Just check their site. If you can't drive nights then LTL linehaul won't work for you. If I didn't do LTL I'd go into Fuel hauling, pays well home daily.

 

Fuel, Dump, Food service, P and D city LTL, Containers from railyards. Lots to look into. This time of year wont be long until snow removal crews are looking for drivers. Try local construction companies moving equipment to and from job sites. Local landscape companies doing soil and material deliveries etc.

 

Even some regional jobs will get you home on weekends and a night or two during the week.
I know the local Craigslist here is full of those type jobs.....You just got to weed through hundreds of listings to find the good ones.
I know a couple drivers that do line haul,about 5 hours out,drop-hook and 5 hours back to the yard.
Many of the line haul deals are night driving but you get home every morning.

 

Feed and Grain, many are dedicated routes home daily.

 

Get your hazmat and tanker endorsements most if not all ltl jobs require them, double and triples also
