Much of it depends on your terminal and where you take home time.
I never take it in the same state twice in a row, and I never park my truck at a terminal unless I am putting it in the shop.

Hey all, as we know there is all kinds of good and bad info on most companies out there. This is the best I have heard about Swift. I am meeting with them tomorrow at the school I am going to. I have been told to go after the dedicated also. I really really want the drop and hook that would be great. What are the CERs and CSAs you are refering to? Thanks for all the info and responses. Stay safe.

CSA is a score for your driving record, get into an accident get 12 points, fail a log audit get 4 points and etc etc, if you accumulate too many points you can be dismissed from your job.

Also not everyone can get a dedicated route especially as a new driver, normally the dedicated they take almost anyone for would be the hands on freight accounts like dollar general since they always need drivers.

I would say my drop and hook in the last couple months has probably been as low as 10%, its almost always live loads/unloads it seems at least for me. Right now im doing drop and hook 100% but its a trailer move project so im not actually moving loads.

Wow, wolf... your drop and hook percentage was as low as 10%? Bummer...

.... I'd say my overall average with D&H runs between 70-90% I'll have to go back and do more calculations, but that seems fair and also in line with my experience when training. Live loads and unloads can certainly eat into your income, since your 14 hour clock is ticking. Yesterday I had a live load that took five and a half hours, which reduced the number of hours and miles I could run yesterday. It meant I had to send a Mac-22 and adjust my delivery appointment today. But it's all good, since I was planning on shutting down for the day after I deliver later this afternoon (taking a 30 minute break now).

I should mention that "Happiness is getting to a live unload... to be informed by the customer that it's a drop and hook!" :) I always love hearing those words, "Just drop the trailer over there and the empties are around back!"

    SWEET!

yeah I do tend to get a ton of lives, maybe the planners just do it since I piss them off sometimes in the past lol

I only had one load I was picking up where my DM told me it was a live and when I got there it was a preloaded, other than that I never get lucky for my live unloads to turn to drops. Once im done with this lease project in January im going to try and push for some dedicated accounts again, maybe this time they might look at me with more experience. I know I would love that target dedicated out of Shafter since its so close to my home and I could be home daily.

I think each terminal is different..i think the requirement per swift policy is out 2 weeks minimum..if you decide to take more than 3 days hometime..they require you to remove your stuff then get reissued a truck which is a pain..It is typically up to your DM though..Thats just so that truck doesn't sit for too long not making them money..When I was company I typically ran 3-5 weeks then went home 3-4 days at a time and never had any issues with it..

from what I was told its based on your rank, so bronze your allowed to let the truck sit for 34 hours, gold you can keep for 2 days but anything after those your suppose to remove your belongings. Also was told after 6 months its 3 days and it goes up from rank etc after that. Maybe someone else can confirm but ultimately yeah its up to the DM.
