SD does require 2 proofs of a physical address. The only exception is that prospector living on some dirt road with no name or no 911 recognition. They can use a PO Box.

U2 must have been to SD.

One reason states require proof of a physical address is they don't want suspended license people bouncing around states for an easy replacement.

 

I went to Ozark office once when I was considering applying for them and showed all my documentation and asked if they would hire me. Was told that I would have to show physical address on my driver's license and that address should match my state of residency. I ended up finding another co. for various other reasons. IMHO, it's important and necessary to visit the co. and talk to safety... and operations... and some dispatchers... and a few drivers....and visit the shop... and talk to whoever else one might think of BEFORE applying for such co. so to avoid some bad surprises...

Sorry this happened. However if u were living in the truck, you should have good Money saved to at least live in motel til u get another job.

I was thinking the same thing. What were they doing with their money? There's only so many CB's, DVD's, soda cans, GPS units and truck stop knick knacks a truck can hold.

 

What I wonder about was they were homeless but she followed him back to olathe? Im assuming in a car? So did they rent a car where they decided to quit or was she following him around in a car? Or do they really have a home and vehicle and are just being over dramatic? Some of these people have absolutely no commons sense or sense of responsibility at all.

 

The scenario I've seen play out is the "party" will stop communicating with dispatch, go to orientation at another company with our truck. Get the boot from whatever company they just went to without quitting our company or returning our truck. They think everything will be ok and try to come back, except we've received the employment verification and know that they went to another job and had every intention of abandoning the truck and they get fired.

OR

They go to orientation at another company with our truck, after a few days of no call no show we call the other company, ask them to look for our truck at a specific location, and then let the other company know that they still have our equipment. Most companies frown upon that since it costs money to recover assets and then they're out of a job from the prospective employer, and the previous employer terminates employment.

 

I can't believe drivers actually do this. Going to orientation in your old company's truck is a pretty low thing to do.
