I remember those days. Young and full of piss and vinegar....nowadays, I like getting home on a regular basis when possible. Lawns to mow, driveways to shovel in winter, hobbies to pursue, and friends to hang out with....work to live, don't live to work.

My husband was out 6 weeks during training, then I went out 2 weeks with him and he said he'll probably be out 4 weeks here on out. His DM is great about getting him home on time but I understand sometimes he may be out longer. We don't have kids yet but it is very hard for me being alone and about 4 weeks is the longest I can stand it. I think if we had kids he'd find a local driving job because it'd be harder for him to leave and hard on the kids. After staying out 2 weeks with him I understand ya'lls job a LOT more and it's actually easier now for me to say goodbye and I'm not so worried about things. Truckers for the most part I saw are good drivers...it's the people driving the little cars who cut truckers off you have to watch.

Mine is scheduled for 10/08 - which is at the 2 month mark, to the day, that I returned from my last ht.
Oh, wait, today is the 11th - so I guess I missed it.

My last load was a 3,000 miler that took the entire week - because I am running recap hours.
It delivered Thursday, so I have a $0 paycheck next week.
Since I'll need that money when I get home I can't get there before the 20th.

So, 10 weeks or so this time.

On the plus side, that 3k load and this 2k load gives me at least 5k for that paycheck.
Hopefully I can get a shorter run on Tuesday that will put it closer to 5.5k.
That single check will pay for a very nice laptop.

Not a trucker yet but it would seem that along with the normal 1 day of home time per week worked.. Deal where you basically take a long weekend once a month.. Wouldnt where you live affect how easily you can get home? And on that note I have a question. I love in Temecula, CA. Which is off the I15 between Riverside and San Diego. All day long I see Swift day cabs running up and down the freeway. I was wondering what those guys are hauling?

Those are shuttles. UPS, Fed EX and Swift maybe more do shuttle. Drive from A to B and back again meet at point B swap trailers home every night lots of miles. It can be boring, the same miles over and over and over, but everything is a trade off. They also shuttle from Phoenix to LA along the I10 with a stop in 29palms or some such.... Don't know what favors I could promise to get my man that job, and out of his great truck. I would do almost anything... for good money and having him home....

Now Witchy, does your man really want to come home all of the time. HEHEHE. I hear that Shuttles are hard for L/O to get on, although I do know a couple that are, KS down to TX and back.

    Yup, I did get that.

It paid for my insurance and 2/3 of the child support.
My check for the week is $0.00.
