.........the oil is in the ground where it is. It's not in Illinois. Or Florida. Or anywhere else but where it is deposited underground. Just like gold, platinum, diamonds or any other mineral, it's in the ground where it is. I hope this map helps.
-
I take it you haven't heard of the new Albany oil shale?
-
........this map indicates a small amount of activity might be happening in Illinois, however there is a strong possibility that the drilling has been done for quite some time and whatever work is there has already been "locked in" a contract with someone. Where the work would be plentiful and new wells were going in would be where the job markets would be best. If you want to find Oil activities besides the ND or TX fields, Google would be your best bet. Good Luck and if you find anything helpful a post would be appreciated.

I was still Googling and missed this post by you. Sorry. I had heard of it a very few times in the last 3 years but never heard a peep on here about it. I only heard about it because of Googling Oil Fields. I wish there was more info about that and other Oil Plays on here. I just heard about this supposedly Huge Shale Oil find in Australia in the last two days although it's been in the news for at least 9 months already. I caution you to take this lightly as it could be more Hype than Truth.

..........If this is true imagine the consequences. That's a big if though.

The drilling hasn't really started yet, legislation to allow hydraulic fracking was signed into law in July. I've also seen energyjobsnow posting ads for owner operators with 407 trailers in Kansas. They are a temp service, I'm looking for actual companies.HeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thanks this.

I guess he has never heard of the Mississippian shale play in KS either! It extends from northwest of Colby to south of Wichita into OK. Shell Oil recently announced that they were pulling out but smaller companies are still active.
-
I sure have. It's been actively worked since the 1950's. What I haven't heard about is any steady work there. I sure would like to, though. Or any where else on the map. Instead of this Play that was "recently announced" ( yeah, I saw that News report too ) that Shell was leaving. The point is about jobs. Good jobs. Not disappearing jobs. The Packard Plant up in Detroit just got sold a few weeks ago. It's been empty since the 1950's too. Maybe all the job seekers should just go up to Detroit and wait for the new owners to put Packards back into production ? Does that sound like a good idea to you, Shadow Captain ? [h=2]Kansas/illinois oil jobs[/h]Does anyone have any leads in these states for owner operator oilfield work? Thanks for the leads, SC ! I at least posted a map instead of touting off about a Play in a downward trend.
