Ok I am the one who asked question
Let me ask this way
The company I work 4 they require us 2 take a 34hr every weekend no matter what
will that be same when I go back 2 work
Then I normally started my day 4-6am and ended my day 4-7pm how would a 30min fit into a day of mine -
If you're driving after 8 hours of being on duty you have to take a 30 min break BEFORE you hit the 8 hour mark. Preferably i think anytime after the 3rd hr. If you're not going to be driving after 8 hrs of being on duty you don't have to take a 30 min break

missjhawk Thanks this. -
The reason they had you taking a 34hr off the same time each weekend is because you can only take it off the same day of the week each week. Your day back on cannot start before 5 am though as far as logging into the truck because you have to have 2 periods off during the 34hr reset between 1-5am. You cannot count a 34hr reset say if you take Wed and Thurs off for some reason, you would still have to take the 34hr off on Friday because the Wed-Thurs off would not count as a 34hr reset.
missjhawk Thanks this. -
the reason I cant figure it out because I been off work since 11/14/12 and the new law haven't wasn't in effect.
So basically it will be the same on the 34 the company would normally let us pick up our load on Thursday and deliver Sunday or Friday deliver on Monday. I just don't want to seem like an idiot when I get cleared to go back to work in couple months am trying to understand you explained 34 where could understand THANKS!!!!!! A BUNCH!!!!!! -
Your company should explain it to you anyway before they send you out. Make sure to ask them and make sure you understand it before heading out

MissJHawk,
DOT wants you to take a 30 minute break so you don't have any single 8 hour period without one on your log. If thought out, a break needs to fall somewhere between after 5 1/4 hours of coming on duty and 7 3/4 hours. They are trying to get us old gummers who can sit in the saddle for long stretches at a time to take a break. It was not uncommon for me to have 9 or more hours behind the wheel in one sitting, but most folks can not do that head calls aside.
My understanding is that it needs to go on line 1; the other thing to watch out for is going more miles then can be done at the 65 mph federal commercial truck speed limit. My truck will run fast enough, so I always have to watch the 65 mph law when running long stretches on the open highway. My take is that it makes it easier for DOT to monitor the federal speed limit on the 70 and 75 mph highways.
For what it is worth,

What?
How come I've never heard of this? -
Speed limit is 75 in New Mexico and Arizona and other western states I don't know all the speed limits
-
I know..
Lots of States are higher than 65 and most states don't have split speed limits..
Not sure where that's from?
