Well, tell us what you know so far.
Im assuming that with the Wal Mart account, you will work out of a WM dock and will go to various stores in that area. I don't know if you would be going to the same stores or whichever one they send you to on a given night. -
Apparently ol Schneid is quite busy. I had a recruiter call and email me a few days ago. I returned her call and haven't heard a thing yet. Busy indeed!
-
I've called them several times but have yet to actuallly speak to someone. I stay on hold for 10 minutes or so and finally hang up. For all the "desperate lying recruiter" stories I've heard, there's sure quite a few companies that take their time getting back to you.
-
Well, a recruiter finally returned my call! She said that you're out for six days and it's a slipseat account.
Apparently, I would drive my car to the Wal Mart DC, go out for six days, come back, and drive home.
She was really vague on the pay. She said it depends on how much they can verify. I think they all are like that anyway.
She was also vague on the running area. She is supposed to call again on Monday so I will let you all know what I hear. -
I don't care where you run these drivers, just pay them right. Seems to me that she is new and has to go ask the senior liars, I mean recruiters, what she needs to say to get that driver hired.
Run for the hills. -
Well yeah its easy to assume you know it all when you don't know much at all.
There a couple of reasons why she was fuzzy on the details.
*she simply doesn't have the details. It sounds like with this account, you are on a dedicated thing, but you will be going wherever they send you, so your pay will be by the mile and its hard to figure that out because it can vary from week to week. Ask to speak to the DBL on the account and he/she should be able to give you an average.
*Im assuming that your running area will be within a certain radius of that WM DC. For example, there is a DC for them up in Cheyenne (or Laramie?) WY. That DC might serve Denver, WY, Salt Lake city...Billings...etc and everywhere in between. She probably just has a list of openings and some light details but hte more specific stuff, she has to get some clarification from. Either way, Id say talk to a DBL.
My recruiter told me Id get my load from a warehouse here in my town (which didnt make sense to me) and Id deliver to western WY (sounded like the entire western chunk) and Utah. Later on she told me that I would be delivering to the entire state of WY and be home daily (uh...). After a few days, she put me in touch with the DBL who was able to make it crystal clear what I would be doing.
The thing is that recruiters have the job of getting people to work for the company. They look for dedicated, teams, OTR, tankers, and everything else. They might not have all the details which is why you have to push and get it.
Hmm slipseating...how long would you be home? -
She didn't say. I'm gonna ask her Monday. -
Hey truckdriver, I have seen the dispatch board several times (at wintersville) and they service a decent area-the board included MI,OH,IN,PA, and points north and east, and a few states south.
So you would be staying in the general midwest/northeast area. That slipseating though sounds crappy, esp if you are going to be away from home for those six days. But hey, maybe when the deal is all laid out it may looks decent.
Aside from being in a punkin wagon, that is!

I drive out of the Grandview, Wa DC for Swift. Our area is Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and western Montana. As for the Slipseat thing. Thats not an issue here. We are issued our own trucks so I am not sure how Schneider does it. But I agree the pay thing is whats important.
