What does a person need to be prepared for to pass the physical? Is it just lift 75 lbs to your waist and 45 lbs over your head, step on and off a box 3 times, or is there a lot more to it as well as checking heart rate, etc.
The more I know and others will be able to read, the better chance those of us that give a darn and are willing to do things the right way will be able to get behind the wheel and show the drivers that do not give a rats *** how it's done!
I have hypertension which is disclosed, not going to hide it! Especially since companies can screen for prescription drugs just as easy as they do illegal drugs. So it means I have to get a DOT physical each year instead of every two... I have to do a visit at the VA each year for my prescription for my medication that keeps my blood pressure under control. Now it's just the anxiety that I will have to keep under check until I get pass the physcial, thus the inquary into what to expect![]()

1. Lift to chest height (Note weight gets added during reps on all)
2. Lift to head height
3. Lift to table height
4. Carry back and forth
5. Step up on ladder (simulates climbing into a trailer)
6. Wall push (100ish Lb's)
7. Wall pull (100ish Lb's)
Can not exceed max heart rate per age. 220-(age)x.9= MHR
I don't recall how many rep's of each but it was at least three per weight setting and I think nine rep's per exercise. -

But if I remember correctly that physical is more to help them determine if you are able to go to the flatbed devision if you should decide to in the future. And you get a DOT from one of thier Dr.s But then again that was a while ago that I took it...

Its for vans to but flatbed drivers do test with more weight.

if you wont to drive 10 -11 hours in a 62 mile an hour truck and then unload it for penuts go a head i wont.! the law says you dont haft to,. just tail gate it, its all you are required to do..! most companys will pay a lumper up to $300 to unload a trailer some time but they will only pay you $60 may be a litle more but remember your hired to move freight from one location to a nother not unload the load .once you get in the dock its up to the company whos receaveing it to unload it the freight is theres then its there job to move it if they wont it . i drove for a company that if i wasnt unloaded in 2 hours and had a oppointment i was told to tell the receaver that if the load was removed in 2 hours i was to shut the doors and drive off the property and call dispatch and they wood call them back and tell them the price has now gone up and if that didnt get there atention that i wood be told to take the trailer to a holding fence and a bond wood be put on the load and the load wood then be put under lock and key and there wood be a a lean put on the load and they wood haft to pay a big bond charge to the shipping company for hold up to apointment contract .this i fount out first hand i couldnt beleave my ears listning to my cell phone on speaker phone with a company that woodn't unload my truck .it a deterant my dispatcher said, for holding up trucks that couldnt make other on time pick up and delivery .this was a true story that took place in 2003 with B RIGHT TRUCKING out of ohio.
