Hello My Trucker Friends! Can anyone help me out here? I have my CDL, the problem I am having is that I went to a school that is not recognized by any carrier. I attended a school that is run by a trucking company finished the program drove for them for 7 months got tired of the lies and all the promises that were made to me about pay and turned in my truck and have not driven for 17 months. I took a different job in my home town doing something different than trucking and ended up after working for them for 15 months getting fired! A wrongful termination! I have been talking to recruiters from different company's and knowone will touch me it seems like. They say the trucking company I trained with and worked for is not recognized by them for CDL training, I was never given a certificate of completion as promised. It costs me $2500.00 to get my CDL from them and it basically is useless it seems like!

My CDL is accident and ticket free. Some of the feed back that I have been getting from recruiters is, I will have to attend a certified truck driving school for a refresher course. I have contacted South West Truck Driving Schools in Arizona and they said I would have to go through their re-training program at a cost of $3,495.00. I don't have that kind of money right now to do that or I would! I have talked to some local small trucking companies here in my home town and surrounding area, and they won't give me an opportunity. They want 3 years of experience because of their insurance. Companies want Truck Drivers because of the shortage but, knowone wants to give you a chance, I don't understand this. I have applied for my Hazmat and going to get my tanker endorsement while I am just sitting around waiting to see what happens and what to do, I figure that might make me more employable by some carriers? Any suggestions will be very much appreciated! Be SAFE out their!

Swift and Knight are both out your way.

That was the school I went to! "KNIGHT." They are not a recognized CDL training facility! And, I was told by several to stay away from Swift!

I thought Knight just recently started their training school in Phoenix. Your saying nearly 2 years ago right? They may be certified now.

Forget that retraining program, they just want your money and want to own you for a yr.If thins was a wrongful termination why didn't you sue them?I did with a company and my lawyers cleaned up my dac and was awarded a nice sum of money for damages.Of course if was a long drawn out process but worth it at the end.Since its been months you drove, you will have to take a refreshers course or apply to smaller companies.Apply to many online sites, you'll receive a lot of bites. But I see you attended Knight schooling which does use DAC services so don't be surprised if your dac is now tarnished.Alot of companies don't hire if terminated.

Unless you burnt your bridge with Knight, it would be much easier to rehire with them. Put in 6 months and start sending out apps while your working there.

Try to go back to Knight. They might hit you with a minimum term contract though, so make sure that you read it carefully.

"Refresher courses" will not cost the same as the full training.

Who cares what anyone thinks about Swift! They offer a refresher course, which is what you have to have so if they will accept you, do it.

    Other refresher :
    National Carriers
    Marten Transport
    FFE
    Paschall Truck Lines
    Averitt
    Schneider
    and several others

Im in the same boat only I did grad from a accredited trucking school. I had 6yrs in the past 10 years , last I drove was 2009. Now I moved to Houston and all the companies I considered are telling me 1 or 2 years RECENT driving experience. The insurance companies wont cover me because its been to long since Ive driven... Im like booooooo!! I know how ya feel bro ... looks like were gonna have to bite the wallet and go take a refresher course at a crap hell company that we really dont wanna work at. LOL Im getting bad flash backs of swift when I first started 2001 ouch!
