I can only relay info about one fellow I know....a former LS who has been on his own 18 months now. Just had his first audit and as of last qtr he is averaging $1.89 for all miles. He says he keeps his minimum at $2pm and has still managed to hang onto a lot of his old LS freight.
landstar8891 Thanks this. -
you are in chicago land. look in the mirror and tell the guy to be more aggressive. when i pulled a box chi land made me $ leaving it. do not leave for less than $3/mile. be aggressive and patientDrivingForceBehindYou said: ↑Would you kindly share your wisdom with the rest , poor scmucks, who dont know any better how, where to get a better rate with a dry van?Click to expand...rollin coal Thanks this.

Cant really see my dispatcher in the mirror. 2.4 per running mile is what I knew they are grossing regionally before I joined the co. No point getting agressive or patient when I get what I agreed to beforehand. Its easy to score goodpaying freight out of Chi. Coming back is another story.mikec265 said: ↑you are in chicago land. look in the mirror and tell the guy to be more aggressive. when i pulled a box chi land made me $ leaving it. do not leave for less than $3/mile. be aggressive and patientClick to expand...
I have called numerous companies in my area. NOBODY in real life averages better with a dry box. Going rate for otr is below 2 and for short hauls around 2.5. I Know of some folks who average close to 3 exclusively driving Northeast. They can have it. -
Its all my fault. Sometimes I take basic math and reading skills for granted. Let me help you out with your dilemma.landstar8891 said: ↑Have a nice day..You seem to be all over the map..Click to expand...
when somebody claims to average $2 per mile after the company's cut .
and that somebody stands to make 82 percent from the total gross
in order to find out that total gross number you do the following:
2 divide by 82 and multiply by 100.
you get 2.4.
honestly at first I thought that you pulling my leg posting all those redundant remarks. or some kids hijacked your account and began demonstrating early symptoms of ADD and the short term memory loss.
but then I realized you're for real so here you go -
I remember one that posted that he's from Canada and netting a 1000 dollars a day pulling a train of chemical tankers. I remember myself thinking yeah that's where the real money is. but at the same time its not that I'm going to do it and go to Canada. like many said on this forum you need to find a niche and get some kind of specialized equipment to make money. I think that the poster disappeared after somebody said there is a big difference between Us and Canadian dollar .Tama Mai Hawaii Nei said: ↑I am trying to start my business and I see a lot of people post they make 1.75 to 2.25 as a O/O leased to a company such as Mercer. So I want to know what you drivers are making with your own authority. I am sure it is above what people make leased on because face it these companies will sink if they pay you what they get for the load. I see some saying 130 miles pay $650.00 $3200 for a 2200 mile trip $4000 for a 900 mile trip so what is the real rate people are getting. I don't plan on leasing I like doing what I want not what someone wants me to do and deal with there BS I have a wife and kids and I really not hurting for money I am retired military so I only plan on running 2 weeks at a time and take 10 days off but the problem is I see too much difference in rates.Click to expand...
