When my company was on paper we'd get nailed for false logs based upon this. typically its not about speeding and more about cutting your break way too short. When you finished up yesterdays log, you didn't account for being pulled into a scale or getting stopped by DOT. So your ending point yesterday, then a 10 hour break, puts you at a location getting a DOT inspection that isn't possible without travelling significantly over the posted limits. So they aren't looking for the 70 in a 65 so much as they are looking for the 210 in a 65.

Well its like this, buy an alarm clock.Thats a necessity..Quit watching shows and get other things done.Ten hr brk goes fast. You need to see when your load delivers and plan your schedule according to the load not according to what you wanna do.If you're late at delivering a load because u just had to watch your internet shows rather then sleep then that's your own fault and your company will not tolerate too many late loads. You should be able to get everything done within an hr or so then hit the sack.Stop watching shows unless your on your reset.

I had a driver that pulled that kind of stuff on me, 12-14 hour breaks. So after about a month of constant complaining I got him to take 10 hour breaks, but he thought he'd be able to stop after an hour of driving and shutdown for 2-4 more hours to do laundry and eat breakfast. The stories on that guy go on and on and I haven't worked with him in 4 years, he drove me crazy.

I just don't get people. Is loads suppose to cater to the drivers,I don't think so.They need to realize those customers pay us and companies can't afford to lose them customers due to drivers that just had do things that really isn't necessarily. When im otr I stop for my brk, shower maybe eat something usually to go then hit the sack.My sleep and feeling refreshed in the morning is far more important then watching tv.I have a perfect ontime record and I plan on keeping it that way.

I run my truck at 68 all day long
seldom avg over 60 miles per hour after 4-5 hours
with a pee break or 2
you pull into a ts by time your back up to speed your avg is down again
so I never log over 60 to be safe with DOTDoneYourWay Thanks this. -
I'm a driver - not a slave.
I'm not a slave to HOS hours, and I'm not a slave to the shippers and receivers.
I drive the hours that I can safely run... period.
That means...
If I need more than a strict 10 hour break - I usually take it.
Shippers/receivers/companies - they all want you to push the limits, even if it means being illegal or unsafe.
I, for one, will not stand for it! -
Do you work for yourself or a company?
If you take a 14 hour break when there isn't time on a load you're putting yourself before everyone else. That is not a smart business practice. Customer might was well only pay you as much as they want since you failed to meet the terms of load. -
We're all slaves to the administration

I can see this thread has gotten out of hand. I earn my money; if you can make more money then on me with someone else, I'll be more than happy to find someone else to earn a profit for. I want an honest days wage for an honest days work; don't ask no more an expect no less.
All, I repeat ALL, relationships are built on the same foundation: treat others as you yourself want to be treated. You people who think the employer - employee relationship gives you, the employer, a pass on this concept is wrong. Any employee who can not hold his own and make you a profit needs to be sent down the road talking to himself.
Here ends the lesson...
