Your math is correct but you forgot one important thing .. FUEL so at 2500 miles at 10 mpg at current pump price lets see ..
2500/10 = 250
250x3.80 = 950
the OP also I don't think make reference to 2290 / Fuel Tax / Plate .
So your looking at roughly 550 a week net IF you get 2500 miles a week and it also does not count the 3 things mentioned above or a bad little word we call DOWNTIME if the truck breaks down . -
You can make money at owning your own truck BUT not at .90 plus fsc which comes out to be around 1.30 a mile x 2500 = 3250- 1700 (fuel) = 1550- 500 (truck) = 1050 - plates,ins,maintenance = less than a person that works at McDonalds!! So if I was to lease on to these company percentage is the only way to go..

Just a quick tid bit of advise on truck finance 101
1. SNF sets the price on the units normally around 10% more than you'd pay at a dealer
2. SNF sets your payments on weekly which means you pay 52 weeks a year and not 48 in a 12 month normal finance agreement . What does that mean , it means if you payment is calculated on weekly and your down a week you hit the rears faster than a person paying monthly . A person paying monthly can pull out quicker because they have more time to do so while still generating a profit .
3. The interest calculation is better on a monthly installment rather than a weekly ( for the buyer )
You pay more principal quicker on a normal finance agreement , a weekly agreement is top loaded interest agreement where the ( seller ) gets the finance charge more directly upfront and little paid on principal . - this is why you see the SNF trucks that are resold once a driver turns them in for a principal amount 10-15k higher than on a truck lot for same truck , same miles , warranty , etc . It's the way the interest is calculated and they sell the truck for the principal amount owed or should I say resell .
They make it easy if your in a credit crunch , but sometimes the easy things in life are actually worth the wait . Meaning if its too easy to get that new truck when you couldn't get it at a trad finance method , you should most likely wait till you can, especially in a solo operationBigdaddy00 Thanks this. -
Thank You Tovya, and God Bless you and family. If only we were all as helpful and considerate...I wonder.
Tovya Thanks this. -
Hey leftlane- who you haul for? Looks like Combined Trans. or Anderson? Just curious. I appreciate your posts btw, thank you. Gawd...I gotta get me one of those "wifes". Thats a really cool feature for any truck! I'm hauling crude oil for Plains Marketing myself. Company driver, avg. 400 per day. But, i really miss running the road and seeing the country. Thanks for all your input to these threads- appreciate it.
