Florida is not a good freight lane. I can see why he doesn't get to get home for a break. Have a great night.

You guys are correct. Going to Florida only happens when I request home time. There's nothing coming out. You have to get loaded in Georgia.

Big money week number 2 for the year with about six more weeks to go on this run. I actually got to drive by the terminal and got my APU fixed. On the way to the shop bay I tore out one of my heat lines to the tanker. I feel fortunate that I made this mistake at the terminal. APU is again covered under warranty but that line hook up will probably cost $300 at the least. I'll know what it cost when I see my settlement this week.
Glad I got it fixed because I spent a lot of time in the south this month and I'm down there now. Later guys. -
What is a heat line and how did you tear that? Hope you have a great week.

We have lines that connect our coolant to the tanker to keep the product hot. It's that time of year when we have to start using them. I unhooked to go into the shop and didn't disconnect them. I will remember now for sure. Especially after I get the bill to fix it, lol.
Thank you for the positive energy.popcorn169 Thanks this. -
Did not know you could do that I learned something new today.

Hi GunMetal,
Just wanted to thank you for this thread. I'm probably 2-3 years away from being able to do what you're attempting to do right now, but you're providing a free education to a lot of us out there who have similar goals. I'll be watching this thread regularly to see your progress, and I'll be saving it for when my turn comes.
I really appreciate what you're offering here. I hope you continue to provide updates until all of your goals have been met (at least!). I wish you the very best in not only reaching those goals, but going FAR beyond them!

Weekly Update:
Good week earnings wise. Not in the $3k club yet but getting closer.
I was third in mpg in the fleet for the second week in a row. A little pissed about that but it's my fault. I let it go for too long before I put some Howes in the tanks. The fuel additives have got me back in the 9+ mpg range at 58 mph fully loaded. I'm doing 58 mph now (unless the speed limit is 55) because I need to conserve as much time a possible due to my being out so long. It's hard to get a restart in tanker. The synthetic oil is delivering the goods. The truck has more power, is more responsive and has improved the mpg. I would say a gain between .4 and .6 mpg.
I still haven't dug out the cost of getting the hose fixed but I haven't been looking that hard either, lol.
Early Friday morning I was hit in the parking lot at Pilot. Got the trailer number and had to run the guy down in the 35 degree night air. Talked to the guy for a minute calmly but he wouldn't give me his info. I took some pics and asked him to come look at my truck. I showed him my door and the fiberglass and paint on his trailer but he still kept saying he didn't do it. I told him we had to call the police and exchange insurance info and that if he didn't this would turn into something major. He went to the fuel island to get some fuel. I took some more pics and told him I was going to call the police. He decided to run. With help from my pics the police contacted his company and got him back down to the Pilot. He wouldn't admit doing it so they scraped his trailer and took a piece of my truck for the lab when they took him into custody. All he had to do was exchange insurance info and it would have been done when we got the police report done. Instead he's gets arrested, fined and his truck/trailer impounded. I will be getting routed to Pittston to get my door fixed eventually. Got to get this money first, lol.
Next time I'll make sure to grab my camera and take a picture before I grab my pants. If I did I would have had his trailer right in front of my truck. Glad I work out on the road. I may not have been able to catch up otherwise. Almost just like that story Don tells in orientation, lol. I'm still road worthy and Road Assist says it will only take about a day to fix after they saw the pictures of the damage. This won't slow me down much and good thing too because I've got about 5 weeks left to go.
Later guys. GunMetal345 out! -
Maybe time to get a dashcam?
It might save you a lot off grief in the future?
