The company I drive for just put me in a 2013 Cascadia. The tractor has 2 cb antenni mounted on the sleeper compartment. I can not find a cb antenna cable any where inside the cab. Anybody have any idea where they might have hidden this thing. Also there isn't any hot lead that I can find. I don't need the power lead because I hook through a power outlet. HELP please !!!

I repaced the stock antenas with a pair of 4' fire stick 2's. This brought my swrs down to around 1.4-1.5 and put my tips to right around 13' 3". I'm getting out much better now.Ii would try that before you spend money on a bird perch unless you have some power.

Look to your upper left and find the sunglass holder (The one on the upper right looks just like it)

Remove the retaining screws. Now look behind it. Your coax and power/ground leads should all be there. Looks similar to the illustration

BTW, the antenna on the drivers side is for the CB. On the passenger side, it's for AM?FM and TV. Freightliner has a multiplexer behind the dash for the whole setup. Unless you know what you're doing, like what was said earlier, I wouldn't screw with it.

The factory harness on the 2013 I drive seemed to be co-phased, and I couldn't get the SWR down, although it did talk and receive. The in dash setup works good with the stock antennas.

I bought a Bird Perch but never used it, I was uneasy about putting that much stress on a little stud.

I bought a Q5 mount and put a heavy duty antenna stud on that coupled to a good piece of coax fed through the firewall and out of sight up to the CB cubbyhole. Antenna is a 7 foot fiberglass whip, there are now several kinds of these depending on what you find. It comes up to almost 13'6"from the ground to the tip and it gets out OK.

A Cobra 29 or Uniden 78 or similar size fits nicely and there is an integrated bracket on the back of the faceplate in my truck.

If the Bird Perch you have is just the shaft by itself, with the one mounting point - the type you screw into the door thread, and you plan on mounting an antenna on it, it better be one with little or no heft.

I used this one (and suggest others do as well) with both the upper and lower mirror mounting points and have a Predator 10k on it. Been using this set up for over 2 years now with no problems

That's due to the diplexer / multiplexer mounted behind the dash. All the antenna leads go into this thing and what you get is less than stellar performance because of it.

This thread goes into it in a lot more detail and contains a wealth of good info regarding Cascadias and radio issues.
