I have recently graduated from a truck school and taken a job in the west Texas oilfield. I pull mobile homes to and from the drilling rigs. 75' long and 14' wide. 5-7 axles. My question is this; when I decide to change truck driving jobs down the road will companies count it as good experience? It's not a common type of trucking and not everyone understands the difficulty of pulling a 14' wide load through a 14 foot 6 inch wide cattle guard at a 90 degree angle off of a narrow two lane county road. (Not trying to sound arrogant, it's a lot easier than it looks but it's still harder than a 48 foot spread axle). But will I have to start at the bottom of the totem pole if I get an otr or local "normal" driving job. Thanks in advance.

Saw a guy in Memphis driving a truck and 53' trailer pulling the same with a chain from the trailer rununder bar.

    106' plus 17 x 2 = 140'

    not sure it was legal...

It ALL counts and if a company tells you it doesnt count they are just blowing smoke to keep your pay low..run from any company who would dis any of your driving as not experience...

You're good to go. Most companies will put you with a trainer anyway for a short period, if for no other reason than just to show you how they operate under their policies.

That is the excuse they will give you, but the real reason, team trucks make them more money.

Scout, every bit of experience you get will be to your advantage on down the road. I don't know if OTR outfits would count this as OTR experience, because it isn't. But as long as you have a driving job, I sure wouldn't worry about it. I can't imagine any legitimate company not appreciating the experience you are getting. There are so many different jobs in the trucking industry, that every bit of experience you get will help you in some way.

the only way u can find that out is 2 get copy of your DAC REPORT. if all the experience is on that you can count it but if it is not on dac you cant count it. you can get free copy of DAC every year from hireright.com just fill out that you will receive DAC in couple of weeks we can talk til blue in face but getting a copy of you DAC is only way tour gonna find out for sure. it got everything on it GOOD ADVICE IS 2 GET COPY OF DAC EVERY YEAR just to make sure its the way its sapose to make sure you go to HIRERIGHT.COM and fill out the form to get free copy you will be looking at the same thing the trucking companys look at to determine how much verifiable experience you have DAC is what they go by not by what you tell them you can tell them you got 10 years if your dac say you got 1 1/2 that is what they pay u

Thank you all for the responses. I understand the seniority thing, I was in the army. Lol. I just don't want to be compared to a out of school new driver with zero experience bc the experience I have isn't a driving job like reefer, box, flat or tanker. An extra thanks for the DAC report comment. I wasn't aware of how to get it.
