2290 tax

    Do you need to file a 2290 for the first year you got the ttrucking
    bough a truck less than a year ago I have been getting mixed answers
    Also will they ask for the 2290 on the dot new entry safety audit

    YES YES YES..must be files before you go anywear. Its like 10 bucks to file online or you can mail it in for free. (plus the actual tax cost)

    The answer is yes and no. The registered owner is required to pay the 2290 tax before putting the truck on the road. If the previous owner paid the tax for the current year and you can get a copy showing that the tax was paid, then you will not need to pay the tax. If the tax has not been paid by the previous owner or he will not give you a copy of the receipt, then you will need to pay the tax yourself. The tax must be paid before you will be able to buy your base plate. They do prorate the fee from the time you purchase the truck and put it on the road.

    Is anyone else still waiting for the IRS stamped copy to arrive, mine was mailed in, check was cashed. Nothing back.
