Incorrect. I was hired by both UPSF and FXF and had not worked at either. At FXF we have hired 8 drivers after me and only 1 was hired from within. Of the 18 or so guys above me only one that I know of started on the dock. -
That what I said, if he at right place ,right time and co. need immediate replacement. It not impossible, but you have to put on an effort to fill out all application before go on and quit your job. Like they say, Don't ask don't get, if you ask, there would that possibility.

They hire way more from the outside than from within. Hiring from within would be the exceptionairforcetoo Thanks this. -
My terminals linehaul drivers never touch a forklift, most of our city drivers don't either. In the six months ive worked here as a p/d driver i have yet to touch a forklift. We have 2 shifts of dockworkers at my yard

What's a p/d driver?
-
Pickup and Deliver, delivering the freight brought in by the line haul drivers and picking freight up to send out to to other terminals for delivery in their areas.

Alot more opportunities beyond ltk stuff. I pull a tank local and rarely make 8 hours a day, not a bad gig.
Honch Thanks this. -
Yeah see that's what I'm lookin' for now... something that's hourly and along the lines of a normal 40hr workweek. I've done my tour of driving my clock nearly out every day, that's for the birds IMO.crazw and airforcetoo Thank this.
