Have had my CDL for three years. Had a minor fender-bender and tested positive for alcohol. Cutrrently in treatment program. Employer then began pattern of harrassment which I endured for a month.
Came up for a random and refused. Quit job. (Yeah, I know it was stupid.) Just received a CDL application in the mail from the State! Don't think I can legally sign it saying that I am not under a cloud. Do I just surrender my CDL now? If so, for how long? This is the first black mark on my record EVER.
forfeiture of CDL?

I can tell by your attitude that you "aren't ready" yet and appear to still reside in denial. So my question for you is: what excuse would you use to justify keeping your CDL?
-
wow.
needed to hear that.
So, taking one day at a time, staying in treatment, do I just surrender my CDL now or what?
There is more background to this, but it matters not.
Bottom line is I did know better. Have no excuses.
I've read some of your other posts and have come to respect you greatly. -
And just what are you here looking for? It doesn't seem to be advice you haven't asked for any. Off hand it looks like you just want to whine about what you've done to yourself. And you will find that most have no sympathy for people who do things to themselves.

Your Not going to like what I have to say here . I as a CDL driver have to tell you quit driving and go get some help with your drinking .
A commercial vehicle is a weapon in the wrong hands . You knew the rules before you decided to drink and drive and thought it was ok to risk other peoples lives .
I say turn in your CDL and go get help . I am so glad to hear you did not kill anyone out there .
Go get some help , your CDL days are over .
Please do not hate me for saying how I feel .
Thank you for not killing anyone in my family .

Drove for three years in another state 20 years ago, did the corporate cubicle thing for twenty years, then got a CDL in my current state three years ago. That's where the six years of driving comes from.
I agree, if I was reading this as someone else's post, I'd have no sympathy either. Not looking for any. Just want to know what happens next. Do I just mail my CDL to the State?
Thanks. -
I believe they will be contacting and asking for it . You could mail to them "certified mail" with a letter and get it over with .
Good Luck , Sorry I'm so harsh in the above post but I take drinking in a commercial vehicle very serious .
-
Thanks Desperado. I don't take offense or hate anyone for saying how they feel or what they think.
Can't change anything that has happened; just have to deal with what is. And yes, thank God I didn't hurt anyone. -
Understood.
Wasn't drinking in my truck or on the job. Was the night before.
Thought I was OK the next day (that's what it does ~ distorts your judgement).
Thank you for your comments. -
Amen
PS ~ Now go do the "next" right thing and get help .
And how about letting us know how your treatment is going from time to time . We'll be here for ya !
