I can understand some of the complaining but aren't Crete drivers getting paid like 40 cpm????? I know I wouldn't be complaining at 40cpm.

I have been here long enough to be assigned my 2nd New truck, and I have never been charged a fee. When doing the inspection of the truck, if something want good enough, I could have just addressed what they wanted. Both times I was given the thumbs up, so I don't really think there are as many issues with this as you insinuate with the 2500 truck statement. I think they only replace about 1500 trucks a year anyway. I think most of these cases are the result of a truck being turned in improperly, so they charge the fee until they clear the truck. I know there are a lot of rules at Crete, but if your truck was as clean as you state, I can't believe you won't get the fee back as long as you follow their procedures.

I'm on my third truck at Crete. The first two I had, following cleaning them up and out, it was signed off by both the person inspecting the truck and by me. I've been pretty fortunate as well, as each of the three was very, very clean when I got them (though my present unit did smell a bit of cigarette smoke when I first got it, but not for long).

You know what, I'm done with this thread. I see we've got recruiters/butt kissers coming here tearing me down simply for standing up for myself. People that have never even driven for Crete criticizing me for wanting my money back. As I said before, this industry sucks because of TRUCKERS. TRUCKERS crap on each other for wanting to speak up for themselves, TRUCKERS beat each other down simply for criticizing, no mater how respectfully. I AM speaking to a lawyer about this. Believe if you want, I don't give a crap. I'm only driving trucks temporarily anyway, you guys can have this shady, crappy, underhanded industry to yourselves in about 2 years. I 'm saving up for what I really want to do. Didn't want to take loan.

For those that plan on making a career of this...God bless you. You sure as hell won't find any support from these companies or any of these drivers. Every man for himself, and that's exactly how the companies like it :)

I for one will not pay heed to anymore complaining from truckers, even after I stop driving. Shippers, receivers, companies and law enforcement crap on Truck Drivers because Truck Drivers are too stupid to see that thy're the only ones not working in their own interests.

    Good luck to you all.

Attempt to turn your next one in at SLC. This is not a Crete protocol. It is a couple of Terminals being extremely unreasonable. Had SLC been justified, Crete would not have reimbursed my money. The stage of management above the Terminal manager level is aware of what is going on out there and while they let her charge the drivers, they will authorize reimbursement when you stand up for yourself. I am not the first to be reimbursed and I am surely not the first to have been charged.

As most of us know, this is really nothing new. I broke my lease with Heartland Express in 1998 (when they were 60% owner-operators).

They withheld $300 from my last settlement for failure to give 30 days notice. I fully expected this and wasn't about to hang around another month when I had a good gig lined up with a hefty increase in income without the big fleet bs.

What irked me more than the three hundred bucks was the $140 charge for failure to return their trailer to the terminal. That was a dollar per mile for the distance from my home to Forest Park, Georgia. Total falsehood since I dropped the trailer when I quit in person at the yard and returned their base plate and Comdata card.

It was just a petty and vindictive thing to do on their part but it wasn't worthwhile for me to attempt to recover the money they stole from me.

I know Wilmer changed the person who checks the returned trucks. It is no longer the guy who gets paid extra for his family member to detail the trucks:biggrin_25525: . I guess the complaints got to the right person.

While I do not support the O/P's determination to attempt to take this matter legal. I do support his right to share his experience on a public forum. That is what forums are for. And I don't blame the homers that didn't experience this coming to the defense of their company. But their experience was not the same as mine or the O'P's.
