I have an 08 389 with a 48" standup bunk, lately I noticed if I turn my bunk heater switch on nothing happens, but once I start driving down the road and it seems to be turning on. I always thought if you had the fan selector set in the bunk u could manually turn it off or on with the switch on the dash. Second question has anyone ever tightened up the telescopic steering in these trucks? My u joints are all good but I still have slop in the steering and it seems to be inside the column, all my components under the hood check out and don't have any movement. ?

Just had a plastic bearing replaced in my Volvo 770, upgrade to metal bearing. Mine had slop in steering wheel also, wonder if Pete is the same?

I might be able to help you on the telescoping issue. I know this was a problem in the 379 not sure if it applies to the 389. When I worked at Pete there was a repair update for excessive loose column. The solution was kinda humourus but it worked. There are to bearings on the center shaft they look similar to a trans pilot brg. Problem was instead of the center of the brg rotating the whole brg would rotate in the aluminum housing causing to wear and cause slop between the brg and the housing. The solution was a "special" rubber band that would go around the outside of the brg and gets squeeze in to housing. I told you it was comical but maybe its the same problem. I would ask at a dealer before tearing down your column its quite a lengthy pain in ### job.
