I have to say that this is a glaring example of why this industry needs mandated training for all operators who enter and real training, not 2 weeks of barely anything. You are buying a truck and you don't know what a DPF is? I am making a valid point here. Don't you think that you should know what all the components to your truck are? I am not saying this to be disrespectful, but if you were driving in a car with your family next to a truck that had a driver in it, who didn't even know what the truck's components did, would you feel safe in your car?

A little background here. I went through the pathetic 2 week school almost 2 decades ago and after dealing with 9 trainers (not my fault), I finally educated myself and moved on. I will always be a very heavy critic against the system we have of letting people into the trucking business with little to no training. Not only will it cost you money, but it creates an unsafe environment and leaves you short changed in trying to run a competitive successful business. Do yourself a favor and get the book that goes with that truck. Read it.

    Good luck!

keepontrucking, you should take a look at this item that DDC has put out giving some general information regarding what all of the DPF lights mean:

    http://www.demanddetroit.com/pdf/performance/regenerationcards/DDC-SVC-OTH-0030-English.pdf

Disregard the first page as that details DEF related stuff, which your truck does not have. This is only a general overview but it does contain some useful information. I would however suggest that you find and read/watch as much information relating to both DPF & DEF as you can, as this will put you in a position to know as much as possible about emission related stuff as possible, because while you may not drive a truck right now that has it, sooner or later you will, and you will save yourself in the end.

If you google around you can find other good resources, as well as some videos that go through the DPF system and what it does.
