Easy guys, just a friendly discussion trying to find work. But since were off topic anyway I just read about the Chattanooga shale. Apparently they are all ready drilling in six counties.

I see your point, SC. I'm guilty. Didn't mean to hijack the thread just get disappointed and frustrated with the lack of good hard data on here and everywhere I know to look at about the Energy Plays. Sorry.
It can change real quick where they drill and where they don't and it's hard to keep track of. Interesting, but frustrating. I hope it works out well for you wherever you find work. I just thought that the Australia find might be relative because of the potential effect on drilling here, because of how much larger it's supposed to be than the Bakken or the Eagle Ford. Especially because the vast majority of the land is already bought for a pittance of what property values are here. But I did digress in the topic, my bad.

New Albany shale is supposed to larger than the Bakken and eagle ford also. Chattanooga shale is supposedly going to be better because it's shallow. That means they use less water and nitrogen instead, cheaper and less environmental concerns.

I read in the Greeley Tribune this summer that the Bakken, Permian, and West Gulf regions each produce 1 million barrels of crude per day. The article said the entire state of CO produced 46 million barrels in 2012. So does that mean there are no oilfield jobs in CO? No, but its not booming like TX and ND! I drive in the Denver-Julesburg and I see jobs advertised that in the past they wanted 2 years oilfield experience---now they want 2 years driving experience. I been hearing thru the grapevine for the last two years that KS is the next boom area because the formations aren't that deep.Sometimes I think the companies are trying to boost their stock values!

Interesting thing on KS...Devon has been buying up leases there and some family members of the CEO have 'allegedly' been coming in along the side of Devon and buying. Our company just got a small contract to haul crude in South KS.

Shell pulling out doesn't bode well for SC Kansas in the long run. I also know of a few one year old wells, being plugged recently in that area. The rig count is down in that area with a lot fewer pickups and trucks at Hotels. Seems to be a lot of test wells being drilled with portable tanks just in case the wells don't pan out, unlike in the past when they completed the entire location during fracing or flowback operations.
