The pier sank another half inch and preliminary repair cost estimates are $50M.

Sunday will be the first Packer game since the closure + with the 7500 seats they added to Lambeau this year it could be uber messy.

Latest: the pier has sunk an additional 3/4" since the bridge was first closed. Temporary supports will be installed by early November but they still don't have a timetable for when repair work will be completed and the bridge can be reopened.

I remember when this bridge was built and yes it does need to be that high. In fact there was a great deal of controversy about it being too low. In the Green Bay Press Gazette there was a cartoon with logging trucks on top of the bridge throwing logs onto a ship so it could fit under the bridge (water level used to be higher) and so the trucks would be lighter. I know it was just a cartoon, but the concerns were real at the time.

172 isn't the only thing that is getting extra traffic. The main street bridge, Main street, Webster, Quincy, University, Broadway and Mather/Velp are all seeing extra traffic. There's a lot of trucking activity that originates in close proximity to the bridge on both sides of the river. Paper mills on the east side and oil/gas, concrete and things brought in by the ships that go under that bridge on the west side

Leo Frigo bridge expected to reopen by January

Repairs to the Leo Frigo Memorial Bridge over the Fox River in Green Bay are expected to be completed by January, state transportation officials said Tuesday morning.

The target date is Jan. 17, state Transportation Secretary Mark Gottlieb said.

I just love how they have closed the ramps from 172 onto 41 south and from 41 north onto 172.
