Today I took my Haz test and I will share my journey with you. A couple weeks ago I picked up the white book from my DMV which sat on my desk for 2 weeks untouched because the size and the number of pages .Finally I decided to study a little and decided to take practice tests from this site and passed the test.Around 90% were the questions from this great site. I remember a question about were we put the signs on the tanks and it was that it was something related with the color of the tank anyway I passed. The advice is that you have the option to have a practice test before the real test and I suggest to take it to have a taste at what is going on. You are NOT in a hurry and you are there TO PASS the test .After practice take the real test(30 questions)You can have 4 wrong out of 30.If you are NOT 100% SKIP the question to the end and close the ones that you are 100%sure so basically pushing the not sure ones to the end and pray that you do 26 ones correct. If you have 26 correct you pass the test.I was in the position that I answered to the ones that I was not 100%sure and I ran to the situation that I needed to get to the one pushed at the end .At the end I was 25good ones and needed one more from the ones pushed at the end.I believe I have read those questions 30 times and I have chosen one that I was the most confident .Pressed the send button and the CONGRATULATION screed appeared but I was wet and red on my forehead .Lesson learned that if you are not sure don't rush with your answer and press the button only if you are confident with your answer. Good luck if you have to take your test. Hope it helped:biggrin_25523:

is it true that you have to redo the background check and the test every 2 years? not to mention the 120$ fee

CONGRATS ON GETTING HAZ!!!! make sure you go and get tanker to go along with HAZ. they are excellent combination that way you can get job any where pretty much. That test is 20 questions. no room for error. you can haul gasoline, food grade tanker, etc.

Don't know which state you live when you put HAZ on your license they tell you to renew every 2. But its a catch 22 you can wait the 4 years when u renew but you want be legal. Yea its on hard copy cant dispute that. BUT!!!!!!! U may not like it but I say it is a $120 well spent. In my state it is $90. I pay it every 2 years. what's $120 when you make at least 30,000. Just to be legal. Here is a what if you get pulled in and the officer at the weigh station choose to examine your license real super close and check out your certification for pulling hazmat loads. and you are currently under a haz load. the officer notice that your certification has expired. that meant your shut down just on a technicality they say renew every 2 but true its on hard copy for 4year. I say its your license. I just renewed mine in june but by luck my 4year was up. don't no bout your dmv but MY DMV charges me $10 to update my haz so im out a even $100. where I live people drive everyday without a license they no they aint suppose to drive they do it anyway and no if police stop them they are going to jail and the car go to jail to. just an analogy. end of day ITS ALL ON YOU do it the way u feel

Just to be on the safe side, renew it every 2 years. You want to avoid as much trouble as possible in every shape, manner, or form whatsoever.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

This past June NJ was added to the TSA threat assessment list. If you plan on it now is a good time to get your TWIC card (port entry card). Then you can take advantage of the reduced fees and have your renewals synchronized.

Congrats on the Hazmat. Get an Emergency Response pocket guide available from most employers or truck stops and carry it with you along with your regulation guidebook.
