Trl abs light just means your antilock on your tandems isn't working. It's most likely the trailers, because central won't fix the abs systems and they're not exactly reliable. I've pulled many trls with the abs light on. It's only a problem if you lock up your brakes, which isn't very likely except when you're empty. If you're pulling an mt with the abs light on I'd give a little extra following distance to avoid any emergency braking.

If it starts happening with every trl you could have a problem with the tractor or pigtail, but others will have a better guess on what that might be than I do.

Shoot some wd-40 or dielectric grease up in all the holes on both ends of your pigtail. If this don't stop it you've just been unlucky enough to get screwed trailers.

Hey all! Just checking in. Finished my 2nd day of training and so far, so good. We've lost 3 already from our class. 1 was because of the new BMI regs & got sent home to do a sleep test, the other 2 just didn't show up this morning. Guess they were just looking for a free vacation. Whatever, I'm here for business! We took the airbrake practice test today, and I was the only one that passed from the class. Of course, I already had my CDL permit in AR. More tests tomorrow, can't wait to get to SLC!

I didn't know Central was doing the BMI / CPAP stuff... Is it DOT regulated now? Or just company policy?

What they told him was that it is set to take effect in December & because of his BMI, the doc would only give him a 3 month card. So Central sent him home to do the test & then come back at a later date after it's done so he can get a 2 year card.

On a second note, I was just curious if anyone knows what the average time on the road is for company drivers starting out? I've heard everything from 2 weeks out/2days home to 6 weeks out/week home, so just curious to hear from some actual drivers what the average is? And also, how much freight does Central handle in & out of Arkansas? Thanks

Just heard from my trainer, a full day earlier than I hoped for! Headed out tomorrow right after we finish orientation! Pretty stoked, since there was a guy from the last class that got stuck here for nearly a week after finish orientation, waiting on his trainer, and bldg 2 is full of horror stories of long waits. >.<

I got a phone call from a friend I know from my church. His son and he have started a truck company for car haulers. They are interested in me coming to work for them as a company driver. They are paying 25% of linehaul (linehaul is in the $4/mile range) and try to get you home every weekend, but aiming for at least 46 weekends a year if that's what is desired. I still need more info, but it sounds pretty good. My problem is twofold. I still don't have a year in and I'm under lease. It makes sense to me to wait the 3 months until my year is up, but getting out of my lease is something else. I never figured on breaking it and have no idea what it might cost me. Anyone have any info?

From what I understand its one day off per week out, but they don't like going over three days at home even if you've been out for more than three weeks. Things could have changed though from when we were company...

    9 days out = 1 day off
    2 weeks out = 2 days off
    3 weeks out = 3 days off
4 weeks out or more = 4 days off

If you're company, they reserve the right to take your truck if you want more than 4 days off. I've never had it happen, but they have that right.

Rather than doign another post, I'll just add on to this one. Does anyone know where the new law is? I keep looking for it, but everything I'm finding is from 2010.
