I have heard people talk about "trucker boots." Is there anything in particular that you like to wear? I have hiking boots (comfy and have rubber tread, but not really water proof) and western boots (those are comfy and watertight, but no tread). Is there a "trucker boot"? btw, I am a woman but frequently wear men's boots so they aren't too tight.

Wear a steel toed boot that covers the ankles. Slip on boots are more comfortable than those with laces.

My steel toed boots are in the truck and used when needed at customers. For general driving purposes use comfortable tennis shoes or something similar. I like my feet to breath so my "go to" shoe for everything but really wet or cold conditions are closed toe and closed heel shoes with plenty of ventilation, a low profile, rounded heel, and really good rubber soles (almost sticky like rock climbing shoes). They're great for driving, since they give me much better feel than boots do, and are very comfortable.

If a customer has requirements for steel toed footwear then I simply reach over and change into "costume" before arriving at the customer.

Thank you, good ideas. Anyone else have favorite driving/working shoes?

If I'm taking tools/supplies up the hill and I don't have to wear my work boots, I like Merrell Moabs. They're fairly soft and breathable and I can switch between them and the work boots because I can wear the same thickness of sock. The tread is pretty grippy on wet steps too.

If I'm on diesel detail and I'm in and out of the yard all day, I am required to keep my work boots on. I wear a pair of Men's Carhartt Hiker BAL Safety Toe Boots. My employer gave me a discount to buy them through work, so I was able to get a pair for $99. They're $169 at Murdoch's.

Just a personal preference, but I wear tennis shoes with shorts and work boots with jeans or work pants. There are no other options, IMHO. No flip flops, sandals, or "cowboy boots".

As I just posted in a different thread, here is my Made in the USA work boot of choice:
    http://www.danner.com/boots/acadiar-mens-womens-400g-uniform-boots.html

Danner makes a mighty fine boot and they make the Acadia for Men & Women.

Try Duluth Trading For your workwear and slip on mocks. i usually wear merrell slip ons as they are American made but the buffalo mocks from Duluth are really comfortable and long wearing. Great quality. I prefer slipons for driving as they are easy to take off when you go into the sleeper. I found steel toed boots cut the top of my foot after a while and were very uncomfortable. just my two bits.
