I was recalibrating a n14 celect plus today and the usb lead came out of my laptop and disrupted the calibration going in to the ecm. Now I can't connect to the ecm and engine will not start. Have I fried the ecm or does it need a reboot or something?

The ECM is now in a ROM boot state. Basically brain dead. It still should be able to connect and Insite should tell you the ECM is in an invalid state and is now ROM booted. It will need to be recalibrate again, but you may need to pay for calibration authorization password from Cummins since it is now blanked. Which version of Insite are you using?

Im using insite 7.4 pro plus.

I think with a rom booted ecm you can only connect to it with the key OFF. Try to disconnect battery power for about 5 min. Reconnect the batteries, leave the key off, and try to reconnect with Insite. You should be getting a message like, "Insite cannot communicate with the connected ECM because it is ROM BOOTED" or something like that. Then there should be a prompt to install a new calibration.

if ecm software is bad and cant be recalibrated with INCAL, I had to change internal memory chips. but empty wont working. I used memory dump files)
