I see you are new here.
To show who you are replying to (unless it's the original poster, known as the "OP") hit the "Reply With Quote" button on the lower right on that particular post that you are replying to.
That will show the post/poster you are replying to, as a quote in the blue cloud, as I just did above with yours.Cetane+ Thanks this. -
Thanks Cajun. Preciate the help. The wife has all the Facebook and crap, I don't get on many forum (as you can tell)!

As quoted by an inspector that did a level 3 on me not to long ago when i asked about putting the P.T.I. or tire check bobtail, he said that they don't require you to log it and they ASSUME you did it so that's good enough

1.5 minutes a day adds up to 500 minutes a year - would save me 8.4 hours a year, dam near
-
im gonna ask inspector tomorrow if I have to log it on line 4 cause I am super curious
-
You have to log the inspection on line 4 you just don't have to do the report.

I think some people get confused. The DVIR is meant as a 'report of condition' of the vehicle upon close of business and to show to the next driver assigned to the vehicle that it is mechanically sound. The fact that you are the only driver of the only truck and only trailer for your authority means there is no other driver to show that DVIR to. It's you. So, no need to write a log of it.
However, you are still required to check over the truck at the end of your day for defects, and you must only drive a commercial vehicle AFTER you've assured yourself that it is safe to do so (hence the reason most officers won't like you not doing a pre-trip as well).
For me, I do a pre and post trip every day. Whichever is the one in daylight gets the better look over, the other is just a 'kick the tires, check the lights and hoses' thing.Davidlee Thanks this. -
I don't think we are required to go on line 4 for pre trip or post trip inspection. one truck carriers, i mean. find me a law that says thou shall go on line 4 daily and log it as pre or post trip inspection... the only reason I had to go on line 4 is due to DVIR, you can't say you filled out the DVIR in under 15min, hence company drivers have to go to line 4 to log DVIR time. Thats what I think now
